Ella, if there wasn't a sign up saying £3 off, then you weren't overcharged. If anything, you were undercharged, as you should have been charged £10.44, but were charged £7.99. I know it's no help, but that's about the gist of it. Spa2k and HighGuyUK are correct.

How was she overcharged, Dude? Price on the shelf was £10.44. She paid £7.99 (£3 was taken off at the till). There wasn't a sign up saying £3 off. She was undercharged, not overcharged. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

I could just imagine Tesco's CS arguing over every R&R if they had the power to change the SEL at the push of a button !
Hmmmmmm. Let's see now. Mars Bars - down from £1.18 to £1.05. Huge POS hanging posters 6ft square. Now, they didn't just appear over night, they appeared overhead. Someone must have put them there - (I should have been a detective). So, if someone can go to the trouble of getting a ladder and hanging this stuff up, it's not beyond the realms of fantasy to think that someone could have run a packet of these things in front of a scanner and noticed a difference.
Jesus, if they can't get it right in circumstances like this, do you really think that adding more technology is going to help them in any way?
To err is human, to really screw something up requires a Tescos Pricing Policy.0 -

That's the first time I've seen anyone make that point (appoligies if other have) and it's such a valid one.
"We're so busy telling you how good we are against our rivals, we've totally neglected to deal with our own problems"
Naturally, they're not comparing things like Cherios 750g packs where Asda were selling them at £2.18 a pack and Mr. T were charging a whopping £2.49.
However good Mr. T's marketing may be (and there's little doubt that it's bloody excellent), the backlash is coming.0 -

Well done for getting your chicken as the Tesco Policy and letting us know. That is therefore the end of the chickengate.
It wasn't meant to be 'helpful' but I don't regard the slagging I got about pursuing my refund as too 'helpful' either. I took that on the chin anyway as I kind of expected it. ;-)
I think a bit of debate and dialogue is healthy - even if it's all heat and no light most of the time!
After all, this is a discussion thread rather than a 'help' thread.
The main point of my post was to encourage people not be deterred by any resistance they get from Tesco staff. I hope we can all agree, that's the main point of this thread and moneysaving in general.0 -

Crikey I heard about these being developed about 5 year ago when I used to work for Mr T. The LCD shelf display will be linked up to the same system that runs the checkouts ensuring that the price on the LCD SEL is the price you pay. However this still will not solve the issue of pre packed meat / cheese etc, and any other products that have the price either printed or stuck on them.
I reckon tesco may go for this one day, but there is a hell of a cost in setting this up ..........
(EX- FMC bod) now seeing what R@R's I can get from my old store :rotfl:
Going back 5 years The FMC (File Maintenance Control) team had to price check the whole store on a 4 week rota with produce and meat and poultry on a weekly basis. I do not know what it is like now but from what I have seen in many of stores this does not happen nowadays hence all of the r@r's about. Hopefully of to mrT this weekend:)TB0 -
i was in a tesco store today and i had been overcharged on 3 things chicken drumbsticks mars bars and a cd.
the cs. girl went with me to have a look at the shelf. she said quote ( this is how tesco makes all its extra money as customers normaly never check there recipts. but i aways check mine) first time someone from tesco has admitted it.i don't half love a freebie0 -
