Tesco misprice policy discussion area part III

On the subject of customer service. My belief after experiences in recent years is that customer service is now virtually non-existant, not just at Tesco's but at most large stores/franchises. The reason is fair clear, a single customer complaint or issue is meaningless to them, even a hundred is insignificant, with millions of other they can afford to take CS lightly, escpecially when these organisations, have enough resources to make prosecution difficult, and whether you go elsewhere does not matter. In the past small stores butchers etc, had a limited number of customers and had to make sure, things were in order, now as many have experienced if you don't like it then tough luck is the attitiude.Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.
EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items.0 -
spa2k wrote:so where do you suppose the funding of the wholescale systems and processes overhaul comes from? What precisely would you do with the "dead beats" and "morons"....I would love for you to sit in an office with one of these people that you so readily criticise and do their job for a little while...but i suppose that you with your fancy phrases and the little quotes that you so often like to use are above that....
Very simple.
As a large organisation Tesco's will have cash reserves to implement systems and processes investment, spend some of that on getting it right, instead of making all your damn excuses. If they haven't got the cash get to the city and finance some, easy as pie, either via a share issue, or any other financial instrument.
In the instance of those who continually mess-up week after week, if they have not already been given a formal warning then do so, if after the warning they are still incapable of doing the job they are paid to perform, relieve yourself's of there services as it would be your right to do, if a person is incapable of performing the task employed to do to a satisfactory level.
You make pricing sound like rocket science, it certainly is not. You may have lots of products but the fundamentals of your business are pretty simple, but just on a large scale, which should be reflected to large scale resources. In fact this centrality and economy of scale efficiency should make it easier and more effecient to operate the pricing system. You don't have to work out real pricing issues that would be the case in say a manufacturing industry, which had many inputs and potential outputs to be calculated and used in the unit price. Yours will be based on a fairly fixed contract price from the supplier and some observation of competitors, so it's hardly difficult. What makes it difficult is the headline grabbing prices that are continually implemented without any due diligence. It just seems that whether it is because your system are poor, or some of your personnel are, or both, that you make it look like that.
On the subject of whether I would be able to do there job or not, my last annual package was a 6 figure amount including bonus and benefits, and am a qualified accountant, certified strategic management consultant, and specialised in controlling and pricing systems. So answer the question yourself.Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

Well done mcbain and what a great way of putting it when they try the old 'no warranty' !!!!!! - "I have paid for it, you've just refunded me that's all" I like it :rotfl: :T0 -
Well I got a mobile or 2 yesterday not bad but I only started looking for r+r's in the last month or so and it has really opened my eyes to pricing in general. my normal shopping was if I like it or want it I buy it price doesnt really matter but after keeping an eye on the prices of things in Tesco I have noticed so much all the things that the prices go up and down so much and vary between stores.
The chart posters always used to have a price next to a few albums now none in any of the stores I have visited in the last 2 weeks.
for the weeks before the 20% offer on CD's, games and DVD's prices were quite low and varoius prices, during the offer they went up and stocks on the shelves ran out and wernt replaced. day after the offer the shelves were full again but the prices havnt returned to their old values.
I was trying to get a few PSP games cheap but the store that the ones I wanted were £29.97 had none and the store that they were £32.97/34.97 had loads I was prepaired to pay £23.97 after the 20% reduction but not more I dont normally buy PSP games I dont need to.
flufff if you post your local area maybe people will avoid the store for you and let you get all the r+r's. I think I remember you being assaulted in Handforth so which other stores did you try? Macclesfield, Irlam, Walkden, Stockport maybe Droylsden or Stalybridge?
I try to spread my wings when r+r ing not wanting to 5h1t on my own doorstep so I try some of the other stores in the area, tom tom sat nav with the tesco points of interest are great for that.0 -
- wouldn't bother trying to get refund at macclesfield for the motorola. I tried this one on monday. Manager refused as said it wasn't on product or shelf - and when i called HO they initially said that was incorrect and i should be refunded but by the time the manager came back they had changed their mind and said it was down to the managers discretion!
Got a refund on the phone, they kept it however i still have the receipt and the leaflet so could try the HO route again? Is it worth it do you think??0 -
I had need to write to Uncle Terry, 'cause I was accused of being a habitual overcharger. I was dead chuffed they have finally cottoned on, hopefully soon I'll get banned. Funny thing though is that they cold called me last week to offer me a 39hr job for £35k. Not bad for bean stacking eh? No guesses what I told them though!!

Dear Terry,
You probably don’t hear much about the poor standards in your stores. I have sent an email to your Customer Relations department but will know I will receive a standard reply which nobody reads or cares about. Hope this isn’t the same with you, I know you are a part of a large corporate organisation but why am I treated like a criminal because week in and week out I have been continually over charged for your products in your stores in Worcester.
Today your Warnden “manager”, because that is who I asked to speak to on the advice of your 0800 number, *******, told me that I was a habitually abuser of being overcharged and I go from store to store actively seeking refunds.
Is it me, or should the question be, “why are Tescos in Worcester continually overcharging their customers?” I have sort to address this in many many ways even at one time showing the store manager in the St Peters store (I have to say a very genuinely professional and courteous chap) errors on his music section.
I would love to be able in my spare time to be able to find misprices and be able to actively donate the value of the products found to the Wizz Kids charity. I am sure if you look into my clubcard details you will find that for many years I have been a very loyal customer and very rarely travel to other stores as the Warnden manager believes.
But to blame it on the customer, well it says it all!!
Many thanks,0 -

hi
got back from mr.t's.i was looking at the motorola v171 and couldnt see any leaflets anywhere, right next to me was a boy who had a leaflet in his hand i asked if i could have a look he said keep it.
i then purchased 2 handsets and they scanned at £49.97 each.went to cs who got the handsets out then i pointed out that i had been overcharged, showing her the leaflet.
cs lady said that price only applies if you spend £50 or over on groceries!!!!!!
i said where does it say that on the leaflet? she then said it says over in the mobile phone section.i asked her to come and show me,i went with her but poor thing she went red in the face.i said well!!!!!
she said im gonna speak to manager.manger comes over to me and says sorry sir, theres a price error.i said i know!!!!!!!!! he then says all he can do is give me a refund on both handsets(no r+r,nor the £10 differnce).or he will contact head office in the morning and see what they say.he asked me where i got leaflet from,i explained from a boy next to the mobile phone section.
he then asked for my contact number which i gave, then my address to which i said why???he didnt answer.then he said he will call me in the morning to let me know what head office has adviced him to do.i said to him i can do that myself,so give back my contact details and i will call them in the morning.he then said you can have a full refund if you wish,to which i replied no thanks and left taking both handsets, receipt and leaflet with me.
i will call head office in the morning to see what they have got to say.
any ideas what they may say?????0 -
!!!!!!_Dastardly wrote:They didn't from the last indicident (spend £40 get £20 off mobiles), or the weekly CD chart mess-ups, or the hundreds of other similar incidents, what makes you think that things will be different this time !! The only thing that would sort this issue out is a wholescale systems and processes sort-out, that would also include a number of dead-beats, who can't do the job they are employed to perform.
I am not talking about the guy putting up the leaflets but the marketing morons who weekly/daily/hourly/monthly put pressure on the pricing system by a continual stream of re-occuring 'offers', for example, chicken drumsticks, turkey steaks, parmesan cheese, etc, CDs and DVDs which go up and down like a yo-yo, however the same low priced offer is that of 3 weeks earlier, they just raise the price in the the meantime to get a headline.
!!!!!!,
Your posts are a great read. They just knock spots off those "do gooders" poosy footers.0 -
