Has started to pour with rain again so DD has been a sweetheart and brought in the washing for me.

Made a huge brunch in the Remoska which should keep us going till tea and DD(15) really appreciated having home made drop scones for breakfast.

I don't want to go out in the downpour but need to post a book I sold on Amazon so will cross my fingers that the weather improves.

Entered a load of competitions so hope for a nice surprise.

Can hear DH hurrying down the stairs as he has just realised it is raining!!!!!!

  • Just popped to Mr T's just now. Thought I would grab some shopping now so I could straight home after work. Snowing here so don't want to have to hang around later!
Anyway, I picked up 2 oval casserole dishes in the reduced section. 1 large one down from £6.99 to £3 and a smaller one down from £2.60 to £1.50. They are Tesco own brand and a lovely blue colour. Really chuffed as Evil Ex Flatmate stole mine when I was moving out so glad I got to replace them:mad:

I also noticed that there was LOADS of veg on the reduced section as I went by. giant bags of carrots, parsnips, leeks, sweetcorn, turnip and some herbs too.
Anyone in Edinburgh this was Tesco Corstorphine. unfortunatly I have mega amounts of veg to use up so I didn't buy any. Freezer is chock full of soups and stews and the veg boxes in fridge need to be used up:rolleyes:

Decided to make a sausage casserole tonight in the slow cooker so it will be ready when I get up..hopefully.
I want to bring it for lunch tomorrow in office so fingers crossed!

Took Dd with me to French, good thing I did because we had an assessment. Dd was fine playing with her DS. She's still not that well though, she's curled up with her wheatie bear watching The Wizard of Oz.

Just had an awkward phone call with my mum. She wants to come and see me and the kids this week -perfectly reasonable of course...except I don't want to see her. Truth be told I find her irritating and boring and I resent the time she takes out of my day. She used to come once a week, I've managed to cut it back to about once every 3 weeks, but tbh that's too much for me. Now I feel guilty for being such a cow:o . She's started playing the 'I want see my grandchildren' card now.

Anyway, sorry this has nothing to do with OS matters. Just needed to sound off:o

Thriftlady - sound off as much as you want. It really helps when you can't say what you want to the people you want to say it to! Don't feel guilty - it's you and the children who matter. Hope DS starts to feel better soon.

My stew is on and smells lovely; it's worth all the chopping and peeling because once it's on the go, it just cooks itself. DH is not sure what time he'll be back from work, so I can just leave it on very low until he comes back.

After the rain in the night and early this morning, it has stayed dry but the sky looks very dark so I'm sure we'll have some more before the day is out. I shall have to put the lamps on soon, I think.

Anyway, time for another cuppa and then back to the sofa and my knitting!

    Hi

Yes Cas, I have a light box that I use daily, also take medication through the winter months. Have upped the dose, so hope to see the difference in about a week. Also have a dawn simulator.

I'm feeling a bit calmer now, but trying to decide whether to go to sewing club or not later on. I could do with some help on an urgent project and the therapy of seeing 'the girls' would do me good, but it's such an effort to drive there and back. Noone else comes my way for me to scrounge a lift! Perhaps I'll go and put all the stuff together now, so that when the time comes all I have to do is shoes and coat on and leave the building.

Crispy rolls tomorrow, forgot they were in the moski cooking, oops!

Been rummaging around in old recipe books, found all sort of old favourites, so will have a go at some of them over the next few weeks. So easy to get stuck in a rut and eat the same old stuff!

Thriftlady - hope your dd is better soon and that your assessment went well. Is it possible to just invite your mum for tea, that way the house will be busy and you won't have time to get irritated with her? Plus if she comes for tea she gets to see the kids!

Well mince just needs topping with potato for cottage pie and I need to go and get dd3 and neighbour's lo who are at PE club today, then it'll be dish up dinner, eat and get changed for w**k!

Have a good evening all xx

It's a good idea but then there'd be no-one to get my dad's tea. They live in Brum so mum doesn't want to be driving in up the M5 in the rush hour. Anyway I'm not sure what OH would have to say about coming home to find my mum there! Don't misunderstand -we all get on alright, she just gets right on my whatsits lol.

Sistercas - it would be great if we all lived in one big MSE house and took it in turns to do the cooking - I think we should do that every year, a sort of summer camp! Other people's menus always seem more exciting than mine! We have stew a lot because a) it's cheap, b) it's easy (once the prepping has been done) c) it's easy to make loads, so you have more for the freezer and d) we like it!
