  • Thanks to all who have replied, you have helped make up my mind to switch, with or without powergen's failings money in my pocket is better than theirs.

I switched early November and my gas was only switched over on 13th jan. Had a card through the post today asking for electricity reading, 3 months after I initiated the switch.

    Not impressed at all.

That's about the length of time it does take to switch, you can't blame LE when this is the way the system works!
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

It takes about 8 weeks to switch over. My Mum is 69 & was with powergen because they say its cheaper being an oap. But london energy is even cheaper, she also enjoyed telling powergen so when they phoned to ask why she was changing.

8 weeks is also what i was expecting. The point I was making is that they are only now asking for the elec reading so how long before that eventually switches over.

Well if they are now asking for the electricity reading I would have thought it would be more or less now, so that your final bill with your current supplier can be issued and that LE can start billing you for your energy. I don't think they are going to take you meter reading to close down your current supplier 8 weeks before taking over you energy, as much as we would like to be billed the cheaper energy for the 8 weeks the transfer takes, with regulations in place that isn't going to happen unfortunately.

Just checked the letter and they are asking for Gas reading, serial no's etc. On checking previous paperwork I supplied all this information on 4th December.

I'll give them a ring tomorrow. Although if the story in today's Mail is true I will be searching out a fixed price deal soon !!

I did the opposite to you and switched from LE to powergen.Nearly 18 months later I have just received my 5th final bill from LE  It has been a total cockup from start to finish.I changed as it does work out cheaper with powergen for me and I also have a capped rate and clubcard points. But I have many more grey hairs than I ever had before :rotfl: The upside is I have had refunds practically every month from powergen due to their foulups and also discounts from LE on each of my 5 final bills..they have now promised that seeing as I ceased to be their customer in sept 04 we are now properly sorted..until the next bill probably  I wish anybody thinking of changing over the best of luck :D
  • Hi Guys,
Do you know you even can save money with LE.

If you phone to them and say you want to apply this LE innovative saver scheme.
This is Electricity Self Read Saver Scheme.

Each time you provide an electricity reading you will receive a credit worth 25 electricitys. electricity readings provided through their wedsite will qualfy for a larger credit of 40 units..

Now imagine how much you can save with this scheme...!!

I applied for the switch on 28-Oct.

Electricity changed on 23-Dec but LE are still awaiting info from BG so I am currently paying 2 direct debits for elec every month. How good are BG at refunds??

    Gas changed on 13-Jan.
