The postie has just delivered a £6 gift voucher for a special survey. Now have to resist the temptation to splurge and buy two more pairs of La Senzas very comfy flannel winter PJs. I love 'em. OH hates 'em. The DDs adore them and DD1 is really hoping santa will bring her a pair for x-mas. Don't need them, I already have 4 pairs. Don't have the drawer space for them but I'd really really like them. DD1 really doesn't need them either. Humph. This frugal lark is no fun at times.

Still on a very positive note I'm up to 172 DooYoos only 28 more to go. Almost at £23 too. Still sick to death of writing them too. I'm thinking of the free cash but its not as motivating as it should be.

Incidently this coffee break is considerably longer than planned. Time to get off my bum and do something with the remaining hour before work.

Today is finally over. I am kettled. Arrived home to two very excited aughters who'd made my dinner in anticipation of a marathon baking session. DD2 had promised her class extra special cakes for her birthday and extended this invite to the adjacent class too. Shes in a split year group do the two classes spend part of the day together most days. Instead of the 36 cakes we baked at the weekend we now needed 72. Bah. Meanwhile DD1s class have arranged a party for tomorrow and been asked to volunteer to bring things in . Most children are taking DVDs, karaoke discs and games. DD1 announced her mum was a fabulous cook and would make all the cakes. Imbecile of a teacher thanked her for this very generous gesture and so the other children are merely taking in crisps. Bah. My christmas spirit is some what depleted. Only having 3 eggs hidden in the garden made this considerably more challenging. Theres a limit to what you can make quickly and cheaply without eggs. Even gingerbread men need eggs. Still DD1 will be struggling into school under the weight of an avalance of buns, hobnobs and flapjacks. Have told her if she ever pulls a stunt like that again Christmas will be cancelled.

DDs are now in bed along with OH and his man flu and so I'm randomly sampling the baked goods to make sure they're all thoroughly cooked. Very yummy they are even if I do say so myself. They're not helping the zit explosion one bit. Mind you neither is the posh gritty stuff. I've looked at it sitting in its swanky tube every morning but have yet to take the lid off. Meanwhile the erruptions are getting more prolific by the day. Its not like there aren't enough other things to drive me insane on a daily basis without feeling the need to head for the nearest mirror to do an emergency inspection. Will shortly be resorting to wearing a paper bag over my head.

Moo, I'm in a quandary - I sympathise with your plight, laugh at your antics & want to take my hat off to your sheer brilliance & coping skills!

Not that any of that helps you, i know, but best I can offer is that you're truly appreciated in MSE DFW world :D

You just have to call 6 companies (free phone numbers) and fill short surveys in after each call. They pay very quickly too.

The flapjacks were disasterous. Very tasty but disasterous none the less. Can't think what possessed me to use a recipe that required greaseproof paper but I did. Flapjacks are now firmly welded to it. Nothing is shifting the stuff. Its almost impossible to scrape the still goey flapjack mix off with your teeth but it is edible. Won't be using that recipe again unless I have carpet to stick down or minor building repairs to attempt then I can see it being remarkably handy.

OH has gone to work. Was beginning to think he wouldn't make it. Am expecting him home before lunch though.

Today is DD2s birthday. She has great plans for the day including a chinese take out for dinner. Now that she can read the entire menu she has done just that and has come up with an enormnous list of requirments which will be vastly reduced at the point of ordering. Means I get out of cooking again. Whoo hoo. Anythings better than last nights dinner which was lovingly reheated by the DDs to the point of almost being lukewarm if you imagined hard enough.

    Plans for today:
    • Evict the DDs from their pits early enough for DD2 to open something but persuade her to wait for most of the parcels until OH arrives home so that he doesn't miss out completely.
    • More washing.
    • More tidying
    • Major scale zit busting. They're refusing to go willingly.
    • Write a Santa list as OH has decreed that the penalty for failing to provide a list will be battery operated and from the area behind the curtain in Ann Summers. Thats a major incentive to come up with a proper wish list tout suite. Still haven't a clue but I can at least show willing.
    • 2+ DooYoos
    • An enormous win on the free bingo (well a girl can dream)
    • Wrap the final x-mas gifts
    • Clean out fires and chickens
    • Clean upstairs bathroom
    • Clean kitchen again. Its amazing how much mess two small children can make whilst baking

Kids! DD1 threw the mother of all wobbelys because it was DD2s birthday. HAd wordds. DD2 unwrapped her presents from the rellies. DD1 threw another mega strop because DD2 got some fab things that DD1 wanted. DD1 sulked all the way to school and continued sulking despite having been warned that she either sorted herself out or spent the evening in her room rather than spoil DD2s day by being silly. One of the TAs took pity on her sitting looking sad and allowed her to help do things for one of the infant classes. A bit later she reappeared with big hugs all round. The kid is 10. I'm not going to survive the hormonal teenage years without resorting to vodka on my cereals.

And breathe. Have been given a large parcel of outgrown clothes for the DDs by one of the more affluent parents in school. Some of them are brand new. Whilst I really do appreciate people sending clothes my way I take major offence to previously worn underwear. I might have what is percieved to be the job of the poverty stricken but that does not mean I can't afford to buy my children underwear. Even if they do get it as x-mas pressies. Still I bet DD2 thinks that her fuschia pink Hello Kitty knickers are the best thing shes given appart from the Nintendo DS.

Still have to come up with something to tell the OH I'd like...... guess thats next on my list of things to do today

    Dear Santa (Draft 1)....

For Crimbo I would appreciate the following:

    5 White Toblerones
    4 Exploding Chocolate Oranges
    3 Games for the Wii
2 pairs of La Senza PJs
and a pair of Next Boot Cut Jeans

Pants init. Must try harder.I'd be happy with just the jeans but I'd want to try them on myself to make sure they fit and they're comfy and they're the right shade of whatever colour I decide I fancy at the time. Bah.
