Having a random dippy moment (yes yes another one). Am busy killing time doing none essential things just bacause I can, savouring the very last of the peace for the next two weeks. Keep finding myself strangely drawn to the currents Boots offer of the week a box full of Soap and Glory products for £20 instead of £50. CAn't help wondering why. I wouln't use 90% of it, I'm not even sure I like Soap and Glory products to begin with but yet I've found myself considering a trip to the nearest Boots just to see if they'rve still got one on the shelf. Clearly this is not the action of a sane mind. There are hundreds of better things I could be doing with my time and with the money. Perhaps I'm embarking on a premature mid-life crisis although thinking about it 68 would be a reasonable age to attain. By 80 you've lost your teeth and by 90 you're both barking and incontinent. Eeek. I suppose that makes me middle aged. I'll be knitting dishcloths and crocheting novelty tea pot covers before you know it.

A swift kick up the bum is required.

I waited up until 2am to buy it online and have someone buying me one instore in case the online order gets cancelled.

If I end up with two the spare is going to another MSE person.

    I think I'm insane too...

Its freezing. Techincally its colder than that. In the big world outdoors its a blamy minus three. I've been stood in an assortment of fields for the last three hours and my feet have become blocks of ice. Arrived home to find I've won another free tenner on the bingo but still no sign of the game I bought last Saturday. Have e-mailed Game who helpfully said after ten working days I can submit a claim for a replacement. Thats rather helpful of them really. 10 working days from the 11th is roundabout Christmas Day. Fat chance of OH having it to unwrap them. Will be sending a suitably worded e-mail telling them rather bluntly that I am very cheesed off.

I have turned into my mother. I am officially the worlds biggest naggy pants and DD1 has done nothing but laugh this morning. There was some vague method in my madness. Today is the last of DD1s summer series of shooting competitions. Barking yes. Anyhow we awoke to 4" of snow. Since its prize giving and DD1 spent most of yesterday helping to set out the course she was determined to go no matter what. So being a fussy mother I made sure she was dressed appropriately for an assualt on the North Pole. Tights, skin tight thermal base layer, knee high ski socks, loose thermal base layer, tracksuit bottoms and winter sailing salopeetes topped off with thermal boots. Then the poor kid was issued with a vest, a skin tight polo neck, a thermal base layer, a thin fleece jumper, a thick fleece jumper, a thermal neck warmer, her sailing coat and to top it off a thick ski jacket. That was before I got started on barrier cream for every inch of skin that may consider becoming exposed, lip balm, gloves, spare gloves and a fleecy hat. Shooting involves an awful lot of standing around doing nothing followed by a brief stint lying on your belly on the floor or in this case in the snow (for which she also has a camping roll mat). Have also issued enough food and hot chocolate to keep an army going for quite some time. Just hope she doesn't need the loo at any point. OH drew the short straw on the basis that he has more body fat than I do and will therefore stay warmer for longer.

DD2 and I are sitting in front of the stove watching drivel on telly and plotting our afternoons sledging and snowballing activities. DD1 has taken the sledge to carry all her kit so we're improvising with very thick bin bags and dining hall trays. Yet another perk of working somewhere with a catering kitchen.

Purchased yet more bread and milk on the way back from horse riding yesterday, town was almost deserted. Splurged £3 on a trio of Baylis and Harding handwashes. They're huge and smell fab and appease the girlie godess in me who occasionally gets out. OH can't understand why I feel the need for grapefruit and mandarin squidgy soap where ordinary bar soap would do just as good a job.

DD2 has appeared wearing a ski suit over her all in one fleecy PJs. Not sure if this is a hint she'd like to go outside sooner rather than later or a silent protest at the temperature of the house.

Taking it easy for a mere 24 hours has allowed my cold to develop into a chest infection. I'm wheezing away like an ashmatic p0rn star. OH decided to medicate me and spent the afternoon and most of the evening feeding me sweet black coffee with sliced lemon and a bit of a kick. Turns out the bit of a kick was due to the tird of a litre of brandy that I consumed over a period of about eight hours. Had the best nights sleep in ages but woke up feeling mega carp. Not sure if its a headache or a hangover but my head feels like its full of cotton wool.

    Plans for today:
    • sledging, snowman building and snowball fights are on the cards
    • DD2 wants to do a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle on the dining table this afternoon which means lighting the log burner in there in anticipation of this.
    • Lots and lots of DooYoos cos I've been a bit slack recently and didn't do any at all yesterday
    • More washing, cleaing and tidying blah blah blah
    • Dig something out of the freezer for dinner today and a joint for roasting tomorrow
    • Spend some quality time in the filing cabinet as the drawers are getting a wee bit full again
    • Load the dishwasher cos I'm feeling super duper lazy
    • Vaguely consider packing clothing for my X-mas at my parents house. Dad has phoned to say Granny is a bit concerned that we'll still be slobbing about in PJs at lunchtime like we were last year and would prefer it if we were all festively clothed. Perhaps in skirts. Helpfully pointed out that OH doesn't own a skirt and his legs are enough to put people off dinner. Dad was laughing too much to speak. Hope that means I can get away with trousers too.

Won't be doing quite as much laundry as I had anticipated seeing as how I forgot to turn the machine on earlier. Was thinking to myself it was a bit quiet. ho hum. My inbox is now stremlined and have done every available survey apart from those from Lightspeed. I'm not bored enough just yet. Have also written two DooYoos (taking me to 179 - sooooo far to go still) and won £8.34 on freeeee bingo. Off to tackle the itchen before OH arrives home and concludes that I have spent the morning building snowmen and sitting on my !!!!. Both of which would be correct.

Got an e-mail earlier saying OHs friends wife had died this morning. Not unexpected but still a bit of a shock. Will have to tell him when he gets in. Not looking forward to that.
