I swapped to them from BT but what annoys me the most is the insincere customer service staff based in India or South Africa. Today I dealt with a robot who seemed to be reading from a sccript and probably was. No offence to South Africans or Indians but there is something about foreign call centres that makes you think these people just don't give a damn. Maybe the geographical distance. My email service has been down for over a week and all they say is the engineers are working on it. I tried to get more information about whether it was just me that was experiencing the problem or was there a bigger problem in this area but the person just kept saying they were working on it. I wanted to reach down the phone line and wring his neck.

Has anyone else been having problems recently with talktalk email? My email just says unavailable due to temporary maintenance. What else can I do other than ringing up? Should I write a letter? But i want email now not in 3 weeks time.

My opinion is that they are rubbish and stay with BT or whoever. Also if I hear that wretched tune 'together as one' again, I will totally flip and they pplay it so loudly whilst you are on hold. It's a form of torture.

    Not happy

exactly the same experience I had. The service is that poor - you really have to see it to believe it. The foreign call centre are the worst because not only do they act as though they could not care less about you but they read the whole call from a script - it is beyond a joke. Stay with BT and choose a good broadband provider like O2 or Be - simple.

You`ll be fine with TT,the knockers aren`t telling you that they pay at least twice as much if not more.
Here is my post from another thread:

Here`s the other side of the coin.
I was with BT paying £10-50 a month line rental and with Fast4 for my BB connection, which was never above 4 megs, paying a further £16-50 a month.

Total, without the cost of calls £27 a month.

On 3rd April last year I joined TT on an 18 month contract.
    My monthly charge is £16-39
For this I get on average a 6.2 megs BB connection, which has never let me down.
Free weekend and evening calls plus free calls ANYTIME to 36 countries
On top of all that the £16-39 INCLUDES my line rental.

All through the change over I was kept informed by TT what was happening and had my free modem delivered with helpful info about TT.
The day of the change over (which was actually earlier than first given) went very smoothly, with a downtime of less than 20 minutes.

I can`t fault TT in any way and have recommended them to friends and relations who also benefit from great savings and great service.
On average taking in the cost of calls with BT, I`m now £20 a month better off with TT.
Just to add, can`t say I`ve ever been "throttled":rotfl:

Now, are TalkTalk posting on here because they are a very helpful Company or are they here for fear of losing valued custom, and if so WHY?

Have been with Talk Talk phone package for almost a year now, and have had absolutely no problems with them at all. My only complaint is that I cannot get their free broadband package as our exchange is not set up yet: will probably try Tiscali for both if that is not resolved by the end of the years contract.

My broadband has always been with Tiscali - I'm pretty sure they do the "cut-offs" from time to time and it is pretty annoying - but other than that I have found them excellent.

If you are so helpful why are you avoiding advising on this thread?

My experience of talktalk was awful. I joined them and lost my phone line and internet connection for a month. I phone the "free number" from my mobile which not "free" daily, but nobody was interrested. Finally I got a phone bill which was huge, even though I had been disconnected. Turned out it was someone else's phone number and bill. They had connected the wrong people and disconnected me. I went back to BT and tried for months to explain to talktalk the debt was not mine, but it was hopeless. I gave up in the end.
