Hiya
Your ticker is looking good Laura!
That's a nice legacy for your OH from his grandad and good he's going to put it to good use on windows, I think that's really nice. It's always worth getting a quote from a joiner too (even a small firm) for doing windows - they are often cheaper than the big window companies.

It was a nice amount. It turned out that OH's grandfather had been very frugal and had managed to save approx £150,000! (divided between 2 children, and grandchildren) and had house to sell too so OH's dad and auntie have ended up with approx £100,000 each, and all grandchildren with £5k and great-grandchildren with £1000. It was quite amazing. No-one had any idea he had that much.
It was quite sad because at the end they were worrying about him having to go into a home and how much it was going to cost and he said ' here, take this card and get some money' and OH's auntie said- 'how much is in there?' and he said '20' so she said '£20 won't go very far (he was a bit confused..) but he said 'No... £20,000!'
We are going to look at a few places.. I'd like to get started ASAP as it would be nice to have new windows before it gets very cold!0 -
Thanks primula

I know! I think OH dad will be considering retiring a bit early. It will really have made a difference. I guess OH's grandad must have been the very embodiment of MSE!0

Well- I've gone and got myself in a small pickle again by overspending (only a small one. It's probably more of a chutney than a pickle...):rotfl:
Anyways, in order to go into my overdraft as little as possible at the end of the month I am going to have to go back to being super strict with myself.
So as of now I have £25 cash in my purse and that is it. No more cash for the rest of the month. This equates to £1.13 per day as I don't get paid until the second of November!
So- from today- I will write down all my spending here.
I have a pass for train and bus so should need to spend very little on travel.
Money is set aside in our joint account for food so I shall have to make sure I take something from home for lunches.
If I desperately need some clothes (which I shouldn't because I have bought loads of stuff recently ) I have £40 worth of vouchers I can use in place like New Look/Dorothy Perkins/ River Island etc so would be able to get something if absolutely seriously necessary.
I have a £10 Lush voucher left over from by birthday (April!!) which I just found (I had completely forgotten about it!) so if I feel like I want something 'nice' to cheer me up then I can use that..
And if all else absolutely fails I have £4 in £2 coins I was going to put in my terramundi and a scratchcard to cash in for £1, giving me a possible £5 extra!
I may have a good hard think about selling a couple of things on Ebay too...
Oooh, and TCB has £20 ready to pay out if absolutely necessary but I would much rather use that to clear the little bit of overdraft spendage than spend it...
Actually... I think I'll be fine.
What I may do as well is use Spendingdiary.com so I can see where I'm wasting my money! :rotfl:0 -
