A little annoyed with HSBC today. Statement arrived today and the interest rate haas gone up again to 21.9%. The thing that really annoys me is the fact that they don't tell you the rate is going up- it just happens. So I am writing a letter to them to say how annoying this is. They will probably ignore it, but at least I have done something.
Had a letter today from HSBC saying thanks for your letter, we do tell you about the interest rate increase blah blah blah ...
ps you 'qualify' for an interest rate of 15.9%!
So one letter= 6% interest rate drop!
Result! :j:j0 -
Hey Laura,
Where's the updates? Not 'seen' you around for a while except on Blondie & Rupe's threads!0 -
Just don't have much to say for myself at the mo- nothing really interesting happening in my personal debt busting journey so nothing to say! I've always got some nonsense or other i can waffle on the blondie thread but genuinely had nothing to update on here!
Still- thanks for noticing
Your sealed pot challenge for xmas looks to be going well. I'm about £50 away from target.. as i ws saving for OH birthday on 1st of Nov too.
It's quite nice to be thinking I have got the money sorted for that and xmas. Usually by this time I would be starting to panic how i was going to afford it all!
Also- OH had his cheque through from his grandads estate this week- £5000. So we are going to start looking at getting quotes for double glazing. AT the mo our patio door is such a weak spot I could break into it! And not to even mention the heating will help with and noise when next door neighbour comes back early mornings from working nights with his radio on full blast! Hopefully we will be able to get it all done for less than £4k and nearer to £3k.
Turns out I did have something interesting to say after all! :rotfl:0 -
Payday tomorrow and due to some silly overspending the last couple of months I can't make any really big overpayments this month, just enough to clear off my Halifax CC. Still, I suppose that's enough.
And I really need to reign it in this month. And start leaving my cards at home again because letting myself carry them around is obviously not working :rolleyes:0 -
I will go clear my halifax card tomorrow, I will. Scouts honour, or girl guides honour, or whatever!0

That's me told
(next bit cut and pasted from another thread)
I really need to get round to closing by barclays account too. Get rid of the overdraft facility so it shows as less credit available. Simplifies stuff too. Need to ring barclaycard tooa sit appears they haven't closed my card down properly as I had a letter advising me of changes to T&C's last week. Errr- didn't I close you down in January? I think I did.
Just couldn't be bothered to type it all again!!0 -
*cut and pasted from another thread (again) 'cos I'm lazy*
Right- it's done! That Halifaz card is gone gone gone! :j:j And total paid over is now over £2000. It's only about 5 months sice I cameon here saying finally paid over £1000 off!
To celebrate I have bought myself a new bead for my pandora bracelet. Cost = £20 (had room for it in budget!) Represents 1% of the £2000 I have paid off.
Anyways, time for happy dance;0 -
cut and pasted (again) super lazy today!
Just checked and it was actually 30/3/09 that I had me 'OMG paid back £1000!' post. That is 6 months and 2 daysWhich means I have cleared off £166 per month. I've paid more but that pesky interest got in the way!
Next step- get a 0% card for my HSBC card to really hammer those debts as much as poss.0 -
Actually changed my mind-
Next step- cancel Barclays curent account and make sure all unused CC's properly closed down.
Then apply for 0% card for HSBC balance (hopefully will get credit limit enough to cover full amount then start paying as much as poss!0
