Updated my spreadsheet last night and it's looking like I should be able to get back on track - just need to stick to my budget. I've also had to re-jig it so I finish paying my Halifax CC over 3 months rather than 2, so that's a little annoying. If I hadn't over spent I could be rid off that Scabbyfax card by now!
Also sorted out our joint account spreadsheet. Have been very naughty and haven't kept a track of that for about 2 months, and we have been overspending. Hasn't helped that our council tax DD seems to come out whenever it wants- it actually came out twice in May, and not in June at all. Grrrr.
Anyway, a closer eye will be needed next month. On everything!!0 -
Just found this post I posted 5/12/08 and made me laughThere are now words to express how uttery pi**ed off I am right now. After careful examination of my credit card statements/overdraft balances etc it appears that after a month of fretting/faffing/transferring balances/watcing every penny and making overpayments I am finally free of £8 of debt. £8. 8 bloody pounds.
I guess I've just got to have faith that the balances will start to come down when the payments start out weighing the interest ec. but it is damn annoying.
Gonna go eat some pizza and drink some beer.
I hate money. I'm gonna go live in a tree with my beer and pizza and never spend any money ever again. ever.
I'm amazed how far I've come since then...
Still might go live in a tree and eat pizza and drink beer for ever...0 -
Just a quick post to say well done Laura - over £1,500 since Nov is absolutely fab so you are obviously doing lots and lots of stuff right. Keep up the good work.0

For some reason whenever you post it doesn't show up in the user cp so I don't find your posts until later!!
Have been looking at how much it is for a trip to Bruges, as that was the one thing I wanted to accomplish this year. But the only time we are able to go is the beggining of Oct as my mum and dad want to come with us as my dad isn't allowed holiday between oct- dec (busy time of year for his company) and in October it is £309 for 4 days as apposed to £239 for 4 days in February.
And I think it will be cutting it a bit fine with my passport as it takes 6 week for that to come through and due to it being rejected last week due to stupid photograph being wrongthat would take it to mid-spetember so it will probably be booked up by then...
So on one hand- it is the one thing I wanted to accomplish and I would feel sad putting it off until next year...
but on the other it is £70 per person cheaper (£280 is quite lot of money!!), my passport will definitely be back, I'll have more holidays to use this year, it will be something to look forward to in grey miserable february (of course it will be grey and miserable in Belgium too..) It will leave me a little more spending money for chocolate and beer  All the sensible reasons point to going next year
Maybe I shouldn't look at it as a failure- as I will have the money saved for the holiday this year, and got it all organised...0 -

Had quite an irritating phone call from HSBC this morning.
Girl rang up and basically said that at the end of the last month we were close to our overdraft limit on our joint account (close to, not over!) and was everything ok... err, yeah? we just had a DD come out twice in one calendar month. No problems here.
Do we need a loan? No, thanks
I see you have a credit card with us with quite a large balance (not that big comparitively). Do I only pay the minimum of each month>- yes, but only until I've finished paying other stuff off..
Oh you have other debts- do you wants to consolidate? No thanks
Did you know you could upgrade to privelege account with free roadside recovery? I don't drive so pretty useless, thanks
But the cover is for you not the car, so if you were with a friend and they broke down then you would be able to get roadside assist. I'd rather hope my car owning friend would have the sense not to rely on their non-car ouwning friends having roadside assisst...
So basically, all this 'we are ringing to see if you were ok because you were near to your overdraft limit' was bull5hit for 'I'd like to sell you everything under the sun...'

LOL. Howz things going?
Still chipping away at that debt. Hoping to get up to 26% by the end of the month! It should be achievable- it's only £4 extra needed!
A little annoyed with HSBC today. Statement arrived today and the interest rate haas gone up again to 21.9%. The thing that really annoys me is the fact that they don't tell you the rate is going up- it just happens. So I am writing a letter to them to say how annoying this is. They will probably ignore it, but at least I have done something. :rolleyes:0 -
ps 14 days until payday!0
