Just catching up after hols - had a fab time in York and did lots and lots, made us really want to have a nice holiday every year and start saving for next year so need to get the sensible head on again and back to the MSE ways.
So sorry Laura to read about your bombshell from OH. 9 years is a long time but maybe now you have planted the seed it will make him think, he maybe honestly and truly never knew how you felt and just thought you were happy the way things are. Hopefully he will think about things now and come round. Good luck with everything hun, and also good luck getting your finances back on track. Keep posting!0 -

I'm glad you had a great time in york.
I love york- OH and I used to live there when we first got together at uni!
As for the whole marriage situation... well, I just don't know what's going on at the moment. I think I need an update on what's going on in his head (this is assuming anything is going on in his head and he isn't just ignoring the situation!!)0 -
Right- I've done my life plan. That is- my plan how I would like things to go... and I warn you. It's pathetic (and I mean the literal definition of envoking feelings of pity/pathos not just 'sad'
) (I have an english degree dont'ch ya know
)
Anyway, here it is
5 month plan (until end of 2009)- Continue being better with my money- aiming for £3k paid off by end of year
- Loose some weight- down to 10st (1st 4Ib to loose)
- Go to Bruges
- Get engaged
- Pay off debt by end of 2010
- Plan wedding
- Have a spa day (perhaps as part of a 'hen type do?' 2 birds one stone etc
)
- Get married (early 2011)
- Have a child/children (no later than age 35)
I think I'll go cry into my bacon sandwich...0 -

Mmmm......bacon.

Don't panic about the marriage thing - but you need to evaluate if it's the "be all and end all" for you.
I have decided I would rather have Mr Fresian than not, so if that means no wedding then so be it *muttermutterselfishsodmuttermutter*0 -

Hi Laura,
Have you spoken to OH again about the marriage thing? Do YOU really want to get married? I'm with F_F, I'm happy with OH, would be happy if he popped the question but at the end of the day, I want to be with him and if that means living together but un-married, I'd be happy with that! Then again I would die at the thought of walking down an aisle, I was a bridesmaid at my sister's wedding when I was 14 - scarred me for life!
Think you should talk to him anyway and you never know he might just be thinking things through!0 -
Wow, Laura you have been busy planning. Don't be sad at not having big career ambitions though, it's what makes us happy that's the main thing. Your plan for spa day though, now that is a good idea - I have done a few now with the girlies and they are fab fab fab. We do an overnight spa break and I can highly recommend this, worth saving for and worth every single penny. Ahhhhhh, sheer bliss.0

My simple plan is:
- Keep a track of all my incomings and outgoings
- Make at least one overpayment to a debt per month
- Always think 'do I NEED this, or WANT this?' before I buy anything.
- Always look for a cheaper option.
- Still track everthing on my spreadsheet but not updating as often as I did. Down to once or twice per month. Need to go back to checking it weekly.
- I have overpayed on virgin credit card this month, and have a big overpayment planned for Halifax credit card next month
- Well, I have definitely let this slip. I've started being able to convince myself I need something a lot more easily than i used to.. from next month (actually from today) it is back to withdrawing cash and leaving cards at home. It will be much harder to impulse buy then...
- Still looking for cheaper options. Always looking for the special offers, using vouchers for BOGOF when going on meals out. Just need to reign in the frivolous spending. Seriously. I've been saying this for the last 2 months!!

Hi Laura,
I know the feeling, I've not been updating my spreadsheet and 'think' I have spent about £180 since payday (Friday) on god only knows what! I think it's less but my spreadsheet cos not up-to-date is telling me otherwise!
You will get back on track, at least you know where you are going wrong!0
