Hi Swinstie, I know I've not been updating much. Things have gone a bit backwards recently (only a little bit. Will be better behaved after christmasSwinstie73 wrote: »Ahem, updates please......

Anyway, I did do one positive DFW thing today- I got rid of by £250 overdraft on my Halifax account which I am not using. Tomorrow I will ring Halifax and make the properly shut down my CC (they owe me about 70p!) And then that will come off my credit file and the hopefully after christams I will get rid of my Barclaycard again, as due to a combination c*ck up on the part of Barclaycard and Paypal I added £100 to that CC. (Barclaycard c*ck up- they were supposed to hace closed that card in January this year  Paypal c*ck up- I didn't even want to use the bl**dy CC I wanted it to come out of my current account )
Anyhoos, no use crying over accidently spent money. Onwards and upwards

Paid HSBC CC card bill today.Nearly forgot as I do not have a DD set up just now as I changed bank accounts recently. In fact- I will make that my mission for today- fill in DD set up form they sent me!
Barclaycard sent me through some balance transfer cheques for 0% until June and I considered transfering some from HSBC over but I said 'NO! You are going to pay that off in January-don't add to it!! It's not worth adding 2.5% for the sake of a few months' The credit limit is not enough on the barclaycard to be able to transfer much anyway. SO I tore it up! Huzzah! And I feel proud for not falling for the CC tricks to get you to build up your balance again. Go me!

Guess WHAT?!!! OH proposed on Christmas Eve!!
I'm (sorry, we're
) getting married!!!
:D
It was very romantic... I was getting ready to go to work (not romantic ) and he kept badgering me to open my advent calender (good old cadbury's
). I was going to go out to work without opening it but he seemed quite insistent so I opened it up. As I tore the foil I noticed the chocolate was missing.. my first thought was 'typical! I've got a dud calender with no chocolate behind the christmas eve door ' and then I noticed a ring in the window (held in place with blue tack! :rotfl:) While I was making 'eh? what? eeek! bleurgh!' sort of noises he took the ring off of me, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!
I had to phone him later while I was on the way to work as I wasn't sure whether I had actually said yes or just made vague squeaky noises at him! :rotfl:
Anyways... very excited now...
The ring he got me was a quite cheap temporary ring (he said you had to have a ring to propose with or it wasn't right...) and we are going shopping to find THE ring.
Huzzah!
Ps Hope everyone has had a happy christmas xx0 -

OMG from me too! Congratulations, I am so pleased for you, and what a lovely romantic way to propose. I honestly am delighted for you, I really am, I just knew it would come right in the end. Remember, we will want a picture of the ring when you get it.
Congratualations again........oh and Happy New Year when it comes
xx0 -
Awww, thanks guys

It's all really exciting right now figuring out the where and hows and (unfortunately) how much?
But yeah, very happy and I'll be seeing in the new year with a bottle of champagne (bought using gift vouchers for M&S the I got from work. Very MSE
) In fact I am having a glass right now. Yum
So for the next 18 months or so my DFW focus will change a little. I will be concentrating on not adding to my debt. We have some savings which we are going to use for the wedding so need to borrow (
) but I will need to control spending and stay focussed so that the debt creeps down...rather that up!
