Phew- Email has arrived so can relax now! Well, about that at least. Turns out the room we have booked isn't ensuite- it wasn't very clear so a little unhappy about that.. at least we are not going for too long.

Worryingly, I've just found some feedback on the guesthouse too (which I'm sure wasn't there before I booked..) which was 2 people saying 'don't go there!' and one saying 'it was great' so I guess we'll see... At least we have somewhere to sleep and won't be wandering the streets of edinburgh like lost souls! :rotfl:

    1. Email sent to Coventry building society asking how to make an overpayment to mortgage!
    2. Checked Ing Savings accounts:

      Christmas Account £125.24 CR
Holiday Account £70.01 CR (this is to pay for my passport)(must fill out passport application!)
ohhh, 25p interest earned! I'll retire now :D
    3. Lots of 'flying!':
      Level One
      Declutter and sweep and mop.
Spend half an hour doing something for yourself! ..
      Level Two
      Hoover sofa
      Wash windows
dust and deweb!.. don't forget furry skirtings!
      Level three
Vacuum right the way up the stairs!
      Sort through coats
    4. Researched 'ghost walk' tours to take in Edinburgh and price. Looking at around £8.50 per tour
I will add to this throughout the day.. right now I have a headache and all I really want to accomplish is drinking tea and watching this morning! :rotfl:

Well, it's been over 6 months since I last had any late payments or other financial boo-boos so I've just applied for the Virgin CC with 16 months interest free.......So fingers crossed! I should hear in 7-10 days :D
Today I received a PIN for my Virgin credit card. I am assuming this means that I have been accepted as I've had no email or anything:confused: I have no idea what the limit would be though. Well, at least I will be able to get rid of some on 0%. So yay:j

Is this your Edinburgh weekend? If so, have a lovely time in sunny Scotland. :j

Thanks for asking- not this weekend though (shame, I have to work tomorrow :( ) We are going at the end of May. The weekend after the bank holiday. I'm really looking forward to it. Got it all planned out- down to where we are eating (2-4-1 deals etc! :D) and what we are doing. I just hope the B&B will be ok... In case you haven't noticed I worry about things. :rotfl:(ps also hoping to get to try some nice whisky!:D)

I'm a Scottish girl but don't have a taste for the whisky at all! I'm sure you'll have a great time, it's a lovely city and good for you doing it all MSE style. I'm sure the B&B will be fine and really you wont be in there for long anyway, so it will be fine. There are loads of nice restaurants if you run out of your 2-4-1 deals and a lot do pre-theatre meals which are good value - you dont have to go to the theatre to get them.

Close Halifax Credit Card account so continue to pay it of at lower rate. Finally done today 27/4/09! Interest 'frozen' at 16.94% (was going up over 5% to 21.95%!) and absolutely cannot be tempted to spend on it as I'm not allowed

Tried to make an overpayment today to my Halifax card and it won't let me do it online  It says something about not being able to have two payment requests outstanding at any one time. So if I have a DD set up it counts the DD as a 'payment request' so I can't overpay online :mad: If I just let the minimum payment come out, and don't find a way to overpay it will take 83 years :eek::eek: to clear it!! They never said anything about this when I closed the account. They said it would continue as normal... so :mad::mad:

I was going to transfer my HSBC card over to my 0% virgin card when it arrives (or part ot it..) as it has a slightly higher interest rate but at least that is easy to overpay. May have to consider the benefits of being able to over pay easily compared to slighlty higher interest rate (3% higher)

On a more cheerful note.. I'm off work tomorrow and Tuesday :D

Rang Virgin CC today and spoke to a very helpful girl who confirmed I had been accepted and that I had been given a credit limit of £2700. That at least was enough to balance transfer a big chunk off of the Scabbyfax card. I can now find a way to pay off that dratted card ASAP.

Also, the last time I got a CC I was only allowed a balance of £1600, so I am now £1000 more credit worthy than I was 18 months ago. Good to see that my hard work is being reflected in my credit rating! :D

Call Halifax and ask them about that because it's nothing I have heard of before!

You could also ask them to cancel the direct debit and send you a paper bill every month.

You could then, in theory, send the minimum to them when you get the bill and add online payments as and when you can.

That's what I was thinking! Great minds think alike :D Especially as I want to pay off the remaining balance double quick time now I've transferred the majority to the 0% CC! I'm sure it's just their way of being bloody awkward! Correction: ANOTHER way of being bloody awkward! :D
