I am so useless at 'to-do' lists. It is exactly a month since since I originally posted my to-do list and I still haven't finished it!
    1. [strike]Sort out buildings and contents insurance[/strike] Done. Saving £192 per year:dance:
    2. Cancel income protection insurance (don't even know what I'm covered for.. ) Still to sort out..
    3. [STRIKE]Close Halifax Credit Card account so continue to pay it of at lower rate. [/STRIKE]Finally done today 27/4/09! Interest 'frozen' at 16.94% (was going up over 5% to 21.95%!) and absolutely cannot be tempted to spend on it as I'm not allowed
    4. [STRIKE]Over pay £100 off of HSBC credit card[/STRIKE] Done
    5. [strike]transfer £40 from Barclays account to ING christmas savings.[/strike] Done. Also received £20 bonus for opening account. Total saved so far £125:j
    6. [strike]Ring Virgin Media re. TV package. Why are we suddenly not able to get tv choice on demand after 18 months?!Grrr[/strike] Done. Seems we have been benefiting from an error for the last 18 months and we should never have had it! £7 extra per month if we want it. Think we'll probably leave it.:o OH not gonna be happy, has been watching the Sopranos, and West Wing and stuff on demand.
    7. Find out poss. prices for a locksmith to improve locks on patio door (anti-lift & top and bottom locks) Still to sort out
    8. [STRIKE]Find batteries for camera and put couple of items on Ebay[/STRIKE] Will find something to put on Ebay today!
    9. [strike]Join Flylady thread[/strike] Done! Tidy house here I come! :rotfl:done
    10. [STRIKE]Make doctor's appointment[/STRIKE]Done
    11. Make dentist's appointment Must make appointment!!
How bad is that? Still have 4 things left to do... as if a month wasn't long enough.. really need to pull my finger out! :D

The last week hasn't been especially MSE I'm afraid :( I guess I've been somewhat buoyed by the £200 refund.. we've overspent a little on grocery budget, I've ordered some Rayban sunspecs through work (admittedly at cost price but still... they weren't FREE), I've also spend the odd few quid here and there which wasn't within my budget. It's no major crisis- but I feel as I've let myself down by 'loosening the reins'. MUST try harder next month!!

Well done Laura, you've got loads ticked off your list. I too have been slipping, but not with The Challenge, Day 1 successful for me.

Well, it's been over 6 months since I last had any late payments or other financial boo-boos so I've just applied for the Virgin CC with 16 months interest free.

I must confess to being a little nervous:o It wouldn't really matter if I didn't get accepted, I could just carry on as now, but getting a card with 0% would really give me a chance to hammer down that total outstanding on CC's.

I don't expect they would give me a balance of £5500 (which is what I would need to transfer both balances) but even if it's £1000, I could pay that off a lot quicker than £1000 on a card with 19.9% interest!

So fingers crossed! I should hear in 7-10 days :D

Good luck! You're doing really well with the debt repayments character0028.gif Why would they not want you?!

Remember though, if you do get accepted Virgin put the APR up when your interest free period ends. My OH had a Virgin card, and they put his APR up to 34.9% dizzy2.gif He went to Egg for interest free and is now happily on a 3.9% LOB with Bank of Scotland.

Well, if I've re-built my credit raing enough to get offered more credit I am hoping to become a fully fledged tart and hop around a few 0% deals.. or eventually settle in a low LOB.

I'm hoping the fact that Scabbyfax have been trying to force a £7500 loan on me for the last month is indicative of a happier credit rating :D
