Ryanair Debit card charge grumble

I used to be of the same opinion as you, but after going Emirates Business Class or Virgin Upper Class you are in a different world. Going back to Ryanair is painful.
.
You still only get from A to B at the end of the day, this is a Money Saving Site, so if you have money to waste like that I have to question your need to be here at all.;)0 -
Can't say I've found many flights by Emirates from my local airport

But Ryan Air have just announced some new routes including Rome and Malta that I look forward to trying later this year.

You're lucky, most people have been charged £10 per person. I've just come back from Dublin after using Ryanair and although the promise of cheap flights disappears underneath the baggage fees, checking fees, etc, they were a good airline and I had no problems with them.I'm sure I'm not the first and I definitely won't be the last but can someone please explain how on earth Ryanair can get away with charging £5.00! per person per flight as a charge for using a Visa Delta debit card!? The only free way to pay appears to be a Visa Electron card which I do not have.

Except one... why do they not have sick bags on their flights??? Just as well I had an empty carrier bag with me (no more details needed

They are convenient, no frills & do what they say on the tin.
I use Visa Electron, web-check in & hand luggage only normally.
Perhaps I would be less keen on a long haul flight, but a 2 hour one - they do the job. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
£5 does not represent the true cost of processing a credit or debit card payment, but neither does £1 represent the true cost of flying you to a european destination.
Ryanair choose this as their business model and with a bit of effort (no checked luggage, online check in and an Electron card) you can sometimes beat them at their own game and get flights for next to nothing.0 -

Well I wouldn't call travelling in a bit of luxury wasting money. In the same way I don't regard driving expensive cars, eating at gormet restaurants, staying at 5 star hotels as wasting money.
One of the reasons that I am able to do this is because I save money elsewhere, in particular making money from Credit Cards via stoozing. Hence my presence on this site. Hope that clears that one up

A handling fee is just that.
There is no implication that it is representative of the actual cost involved. You are making an assumption that it should be.
You are misleading yourself.
Well the banks have had their wrists slapped for their admin charges not being proportionate to the effort involved in processing the actual situation concerned. Its only a matter of time before the same will apply to Ryanair.
I am not misleading myself. I believe the use of the term "Handling Fee" is misleading in this instance, you do not. Straight forward difference of opinion, but hey if everyone thought the same then life would be so boring

Unlucky. Fortunately I can fly Emirates from an airport within 20 miles of my home. And if you fly Business Class they even send out a limo to your house to pick you up and take you to the airport. :cool:0
