I'm going to add to this thread because of what I found out yesterday. I wasn't aware of the £28.50 fee that was made for using my debit card. At no point did I see an alert like the one pictured above. The first I knew of the extra fee was when I printed out my itinerary. I had checked and checked and checked all the charges as they were being displayed to me as I am aware of these budget airlines hiking up the price. What actually happened (I worked this out by going back and entering a dummy transaction up to the point of payment) was that the total to pay changed AFTER I had checked it, as I was entering the debit card details.

And yes, the amount to pay was only just above the credit card form but I can only compare it to a magicians slight of hand, why would you go back and re-check what you have already checked?

Anyway, we were so annoyed about this extra fee that we have phoned trading standards who have given us a case number so that we can attempt to reclaim our £28.50 as there was not sufficient notice of the extra charge, that it was too 'concealed'. If Ryanair don't refund us within 14 days then Trading Standards will take up the case on our behalf.

The thing is I wouldn't have minded paying more for the flights, I mean no-one can expect to pay £1 to fly to Spain, what I object to is being taken for a mug. Come on Michael O'Leary, just put up your prices and be honest about what you are charging yur customers.

Think of a better story If you're going to complie absolute tosh like this !

Saw him ranting on the news yesterday, does he allways go on like that??
I don't fly around and if i did i'd not use ryanair coz he said " if you don't want to use us to fly - then don't". Well I wont .. simple as :)
  • My son booked 2 seats with Ryan Air earlier this week and was charged an extra £9.50 per person for using his card. In order to book the flights, he had to accept this charge because he didn't have the Electron card which is apparently the only free way of booking flights. Is it legal for Ryan Air to make more than one charge on one single card transaction? Surely one transaction will result in only one minor charge being levied against them; not two!

 I agree. I've just booked flights to Poland for 6 adults, and was charged £57 debit card fee! I didn't notice the list of fees either.I expected other charges to be added, but surely there should only be one card handling fee--after all it was a single transaction.

Unfortunately, that is the way Ryanair works, if you are not happy, use another airline... or get an Electron Card.

As being German (in Scotland for nearly 5 years) you can imagine I use Ryanair very often as for me going over or someone coming to see me.
