You contradict yourself in every post. Your beliefs are only as big as your wallet !

I don't know many people who support something that clearly agitates them so much !

Not at all! I don't like the way they package the costs. I also dislike their recruitment policies - inexperience unprofessional cabin crew with poor understanding of English is a concern. I hardly feel I 'support' them - the £1000 or so I spend each year with Ryanair is a drop in the ocean.

Ryanair suits me for certain destinations. If I can use an alternative airline I will do!

Show me one contradiction - I understand they have to charge X amount for a flight, but they should set a more realistic flight price rather than list artificially low prices.

I would prefer they just quoted an honest inclusive fair and only charged for truly optional add-ons.

The card charge IS a truly optional add-on. I fly regularly with Ryanair and never pay it, so I don't see how it's not optional.

If Ryanair need this additional £5 to be a viable business then !!!!!! put it on the flights!

What, and make everyone pay £5 extra just because some people don't like having to use a different card? No thanks, it's a move that would make me (and many others on here - you seem surprised that people on MSE like saving money...) considerably worse off.

It is NOT truly optional - it is artificial to not charge it on electron cards, as there is no difference in cost to Ryanair. They only do this to advertise certain rates. Most people do not have an electron card - this is the only reason they don't charge for this.

Say 10% of flights are sold on electron cards - then average it up and charge £4.50 per ticket! This is a more honest way of charging.

And force everyone to pay £4.50 extra? No thanks! As I see it, Ryanair has got it sussed: if they offer a free option those who care about saving money will take it, leaving those who don't mind paying more or are lazier to subsidise it. In other words they cater for everyone. It's exactly the same with baggage: BA and co charge everyone for luggage regardless of whether they actually travel with it, thus effectively forcing people to travel light to subsidise those with golf clubs, etc. Also with on-board services, where teetotallers subsidise alcoholics. And so on. Ryanair's pricing structure is what's made it the most successful airline in Europe, and it works precisely by having some people pay next to nothing and others quite a lot more. Charging more would upset the whole business model, cause a loss of customers, and ultimately affect the success of the company.

Opening an account with an Electron card took me five minutes, well worth the small amount of effort for the amount I later saved on flights.

Even if I had an electron card, I would rather pay an honest price for the flight, even if it cost me slightly more.

It's not the same as Ryanair charging for baggage - it costs more to handle, check-in and actually fly the baggage than not.

However it is NOT cheaper for them to process an electron card - this is only offered so they can mislead people about the true cost of a flight. The vast majority of people booking will not pay the advertised fare.

    Which is their choice.
The electron card is available to anyone who can be bothered to apply for a basic account.

It is crazy for people to have to operate an additional bank account purely to work around Ryanair's pricing policy.

People defending Ryanair's dubious hidden fees is ridiculous to me. I've never met anybody who thinks it's fair!

And why do you not think the 45-50m people are angry about it? I personally use Ryanair (reluctantly), for both personal and business use, as for certain destinations they're the easiest option.

I've got no problem paying the total charge Ryanair want to take from me, just the way they package it.

But the fees are not hidden!

But unless you go through the terms and conditions, you are not made aware of this until you have been quoted for the flight. It's hardly up front is it?
