speedwork.......is that the burst of energy I find when I am dodging traffic trying to cross a roundabout......or when I need to try and look like a super-athlete when someone else is running towards me.....?

Hi everyone, Well done to Rich & Becky (you are sure you aren't the same person? - I have met Rich, so Becky must be his imaginary friend who keeps him company on his long runs
) on your 20-miler today. Is that the first 20-miler we have clocked up between us or has there been another 20-mile training run that I have missed?
Today hasn't been so great for me and my OH. After feeling tired but OK yesterday, I have felt awful today. Not physically, other than feeling tired, but just really mentally drained and quite down. To make things worse, OH went out for a run this morning and even though he had been feeling OK, this morning he hobbled back after a mile, almost unable to walk. We had to sit down and talk about it, but he has decided that London is simply impossible for him this year, so he is going to withdraw from the race this year. Unfortunately we had also booked our accommodation so we'll lose our deposit on that too.
Sorry to bring such a downer to the thread.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Aww Chick poor you
and poor OH - he really has been plagued with injury poor man
(cant you cut your hair really short and run for him??;))
Suggestion before you cancel your accoms - can you flog it to someone else - there's a thread on Runners World about hotels for FLM...0 -
And no we're not the same person - I'm a 26 yr old female and Rich is silver fox veteran male as you know
- not sure he could get away with running my FLM place (and if he tries it I'll have to hurt him
)

Chick, so sorry to read that things have been a bit pants this weekend, and that OH has to pull out of FLM. Big hugs and jaffa cakes to both of you xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Ha ha! Unfortunately he is 'follically challenged' so it would have to be shaved rather than cut. (But at least you made me smile, which is probably the first time today).
Good idea about selling the rooms on. I'll give OH a call later to suggest it. He has gone back to Wales now so I won't see him until Friday.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Chick that is a real pain about OH having to pull out of London, he obviously knows his own body and capabilities so he is being wise
Hypno your speed work sounds like mineActually I was thinking about it today when passing the miles, my pace always seems to remain the same whether I am on the flat, going up or coming down hills...now is that bad? Should I really learn to go slower up hill and speed up coming down? Guess I am sort of getting some fartlek in there going uphill if I am working much harder...or am I clutching at straws on that one
Becky your explanation was perfect on the old mileage thingy. Averaging 35 miles a week at the moment so feel like I am on track (although this week has been less). Really going to try and get some more runs in I thinkI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Awww you sound really down about it all - which makes such a change because you're normally so upbeat about everything, dont worry about being tired though - you did a lot of running yesterday - sometimes it just takes you a bit by surprise (and the endorphins crash after the post run high).

I reckon just join up (if you're not a member) and start a new thread
Or you could come down anyway and join Rich supporting the rest of the runners:D:D (and have a party at mine)
