it is just not worth risking the injury, sally. Let's hope the thaw comes soon for you.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

its just very frustrating, was there anything on the roads when you ran yesterday? Maybe I will just go out and see, I have a feeling the road will be blocked anyway. This is my bro who decided to go for a walk yesterday to see how deep it was further out of townI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. Nothing like that here - we had a lot of "wet snow" so it turned to a lot of water - that has frozen, so there are big frozen ice patches about, some of which you can't see so are particularly dangerous, but I have to say that they are relatively few and far between - yesterday I went into the city to do my run because it is more likely to be ice free than the villages outside.
So, the picture here is very different to yours!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Think I will just have to find some roads in town that are clear and not busy and go round and round in circles, town is only 3 miles from one side to the other so could get quite monotonusI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I have been doing smaller laps too - my village is 1.5 miles end to end, so on Tuesday I did the main road through 4 times, yesterday I did a city loop a couple of times and usually on a Sunday I do a 2.5 mile loop as many times as I can.
I used to think that a small lap several times was the most boring thing, but as you go round more, they seem to get smaller and smaller so seem to go buy quicker, so now I quite like doing them!!
Also, I read that the monotony of doing laps helps with the long distance work because you are used to the boredom!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Im sure the loops/laps make you mentally stronger because the temptation as you go past your front door is always looming...if you can get past that each time Im sure you can overcome anything!I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Hi Sally - sorry to hear the weather is keeping you in
That snow looks pretty crazy! Are you going to attempt the 16 today??
Just noticed that the Mad March 20 is full - hope you managed to book your place!!
We're about to go out in a while for our 20 miler, just dosing up on coffee now
Happy running all!0 -
Despite having felt fantastic having a run on Friday, I've had a really painful hip all weekend which has me just about in tears. I felt great doing my run and found it pretty easy (to be boastful!), but can' walk now as a result. I had been told it was a sciatic pain, but now I think it's more of a bursitis or something.
Grrrr.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
Edited because the stupid machine decided to post before I'd finished; still it makes a change from deleting it mid post.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910

Hi everyone, I hope you have all found the conditions a bit easier today. Sorry to hear about your hip bgb; hope it's nothing too painful!!
I set out for another 5k today and what a difference; no snow, sleet or icy winds to contend with. Bearing in mind the advice given on here I set out like a tortoise and found at the half way point that I was feeling very strong so decided to run to 2 miles before turning back. With my new mantra 'slower is better' I managed 7.1k in 48.21. :j :j I am really pleased to have cracked the 'magic' 4 miles running outside.
It will take more planning this week as I am back to work tomorrow but having done my first couple of runs outside I've now got something to build on.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910
