chick that is a serious amount of mileage in such a short space of time - well done :T

I needed to get out today because I am unlikely to be able to tomorrow as I have something on which is a couple of hours drive away, and generally lasts all day - usually it is late by the time I get home.

But I was talking today (after my run) to one of the other run club women, and I am going to try and get to that on Monday - they generally do 6 miles or so, so I will treat tomorrow as my rest day, with milage being counted again from Monday.

I only got out twice this week - so 6.5 miles on Tuesday and 14 today = 20.5.......hmm!

Hypno, even though your mileage isn't what you may have wanted, you still got the key session done (i.e. your long run) so that must be some consolation at least!

Oh, I am more than happy with 14 miles! I have a 20k (about 12.5 miles) next Sunday at my Dad's old club, so that will be my "long" run for that week, then I have a couple of weeks before a 20 mile race on 8th March, which I am doing not as a race, but to get 20 miles with drinks handed out etc as a good training run. So sometime between now and then, I would quite like to get 16 or 18 miles done.

Now that I have done 14, I feel as though 16 is not such a scary number, yet it is a whole lot close to that 20 or 26!

Hey Chick - well done on a great run and a great week - you've done more miles than me so far :D Must have been a lovely view and run :D

I agree with Chick Hypno - that 14 mile is a fantastic run even if the weather did keep your total weekly mileage lower than you wanted - roll on 16!!!
  • Well done everyone on their running this week! I'ts been pretty bad here in the Midlands too, but most of it has melted now, thankfully.

Good on Becky and Rich for your dedication! I don't think I would have attempted running on that surface!

I went to the gym today, first time back since the problem with my eye has been sorted. I did 4 miles as per my plan. It took me 1hour 8 mins. I took it slower this time, as last time I had sore heels. They were not too bad this time.

I've got a question for Becky/Rich. Is the main focus of my walk to complete the distance, rather than the speed of my walk?

    Cheers!

Bexterra, def the aim is to complete the walk..doesn't matter at this stage how long it takes you and over time you will find you automatically get quicker. Think Rich would say the slower the better

Thanks Sally, I was thinking about it earlier. It makes sense that completing the distance will make it easier when I do my runs. My legs will be much stronger. Thanks for being on hand!:T

Yep we totally agree Bex - good to hear you're back after the eye incident :D

Just take it as slow as you need to in order to get through the distance - the miles will strengthen the muscles and improve bone density which will bring speed and prepare you for increasing your workload later.

Good luck becky and rich for your long run today - and good luck too to anyone else running/walking/resting!
