Hi Sally - sorry to hear the weather is keeping you in
That snow looks pretty crazy! Are you going to attempt the 16 today??
Just noticed that the Mad March 20 is full - hope you managed to book your place!!
We're about to go out in a while for our 20 miler, just dosing up on coffee now
Happy running all!
Weather was dire this morning and conditions trecherous to say the least. Ran in the middle of the snowy roads most of the way, at one point I was trying to emulate Rich's triple salco but kept going but I must have looked hillarious. Anyway not quite the 16 I had hoped for and in better conditions would have been fine to do it. 13.3 miles 2:17.07 so around 10.38 per mile which seems very slow but has made me realise how inaccurate my stupid nike was. Would really like to get that half marathon under 2 hours, mind you on the flat (which a lot of them are) and in nice conditions I think I could easily shave 6-10 mins off that.
right will stop waffling nowI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Becky put together a scenic 20 miles course looping back and forth around the Thames. Apart from a couple of small sections on each lap that had the inevitable sightseer annoyances it was a really nice route and a pleasant, relaxing way to spend a Sunday morning/afternoon.
The main aim again was to achieve 'time on the feet' so 3hrs 24mins of solid running is just what the doctor ordered.
That makes the total mileage for the week 65.0, which considering the weather conditions is very satisfactory, especially the fact that there were no days lost to the weather.:D:D:D:D
Another impressive effort from Becky making the last 3 Sunday runs 15.5, 18.5 and 20.0....well on track for FLM.
BGB - That sounds horrible. Hope professional guidance can get to the bottom of it for you.
Simply - Another huge step in the right direction from easing back and letting your body enjoy itself. Great effort!
Well done everyone on yesterday's efforts:
Hypo - 14 miles is a huge achievement after the impossibility of running on the blisters for so long - well back in the running now.
Chick - Wow, you're really starting to get comfortable with churning out the high mileage. Your speed will reflect the mileage work in the weeks to come.
Bex - Yes, completing the distance is the only aim to develop the core strength and bone density. Time is not of much consequence really.
Sally - Congratulations on the 13 miler - it must have been tough to get any decent distance work in with the conditions in your area.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Thanks Simply
(big beaming smile from custard and endorphins)
Actually though I think anyone could do this - its about a little hard work and training in the right way and some determination - its sooo going to show on marathon day whose put in the right kind of training and who hasnt0 -
Hard work and determination Becky???? You're not kidding. I can see that I'm going to need that in bucket loads if I want to progress (and believe me I do).
I hope that by following this thread and learning from others I can make sure that I train correctly with minimal (or no) injuries.
Hope you enjoyed the custard! :rotfl:2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
Simplycynical wrote: »Hi everyone, I hope you have all found the conditions a bit easier today. Sorry to hear about your hip bgb; hope it's nothing too painful!!
So do I - it's agony! I'm walking like someone sixty years older than I am right now! I think it may be bursitis, just going by the pain after exercising, and going up stairs, extending it, etc.
The annoying thing was that I really loved my last run!Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
Ahhh sorry BGB - I do hope you feel better soon0
