    Well said Hypno!

You really dont mind the result if you've followed a logical plan and you have something you can improve on in the future should you so wish.

But, as you say, if you go to the start line feeling unprepared that 26 miles in front of you seems mightily scary and leads to the 'What am I doing here?' thoughts.

Proper preparation should deliver you to the start line itching to get stuck in!:D :D

Fizz and custard  That must be why my cold is not getting better - I am using Beechams and Soothers :rotfl:

  • All this talk of custard is making me hungry but I think I'll stick to banana & custard - fizz and custard is just a step too far!!

I have been following Rich's advice (thanks Rich) and after my two shorter sessions during the week decided on a longer, slower run today. I set the tready for an hour on Level 6 and decided to run for as long as I could with the thought that I could then walk the rest of the time as a cool down.

I am sooooooooo pleased - I managed to run FOR THE WHOLE HOUR and COVERED 8.55K :j :j :j :j It felt so comfortable that I'm sure that I could have carried on for longer.

I now plan to have a walk/rest day tomorrow and will then run outside for 5k on Monday to see how this compares to plodding away on the treadie.

Thank you all for the advice and wise words; I am learning so much from this thread!! :T

simply - that is excellent running! And the fact that you felt as though you could carry on for longer is just great!

  • Thanks Hypno, I think when I've tried to run before I've pushed myself too hard too quickly. Rich's advice really seems to work and I've made better progress than I dared hope for.

Just got to overcome the running outside hurdle now; I know that it's all in my mind (it's not like I can't walk outside for goodness sake) but am really up for giving it a go on Monday. Just hope that the snow that is forecast doesn't make an appearance lol

we are due snow too - my kids love it because they can ski on the real stuff at home.....

It's another reason why I want to run in the morning, for fear that the snow stops me going out running for a couple of days later in the week......

hi sally! good luck with the long run tomorrow - I am going to go out earlyish and just see how far I can go......will compare distances with you later in the day, but I am sure I won't be doing 12 miles +

Fingers crossed the weather goes in our favour! Off to find my hat in readiness!
