but just reading the storys on runners world web site about the water issue in the Edinbrough Marathon... sounds like it was well shocking so very well done for getting through it KMS..
I was only a little bothered really and more on the grounds of being sick again as i knew there was a guy with a hose a few miles away. I could of happily carried on all the way to the finish if needs be, just not running all the way.
I know what i can get away with and also knew i had 2 litres worth of drink in my bag too waiting for me.Debt free Nerd number 1122 LBM Jan 2009 Debt @ LBM £40,086.88 (14/01/09)

Hi Enemies!
Hope you don't mind me sticking my 2 penneth in?!
I was alarmed to see no fruit or veg in your diet
Bananas especially are great energy food before a run and contain potassium (which I know is good - but can't remember why!)
As Poorbabe said, little and often is best
macgirl I do eat looads of veg most days as I love all my veg but I do agree not much fruit which I have to consider eating more off!!
Bananas I hate but if they are good for you I might try to eat some!!:o0 -

Hello everyone, just reporting in after my rest day yesterday.
Bananas dunked in sugar - yeuk  I like mine on toast with peanut butter and vegemite!!
I decided on a new tactic and new route for my 'Orrible 'Ills run today. On a couple of occasions recently I've ended up running in the evening after a 10 hr day in the office (not purposely but got in early and then couldn't escape again) feeling tired, hungry and a little dehydrated so I've decided to try running first thing.
So at 06.30 hrs this morning - 4 miles 00:40:38 (10:07/mile) - I'm really pleased with that because the route is one that I've been avoiding because of the scarey elevations. I needed to crack it because it will form part of the route I will use once I get on to runs of 14 miles and more; if I continue using my current route I'll end up in the sea!
It was hard work and at one point I found myself chanting 'Failure is permanent' over and over again until I got to the top. But it worked and I've done it so I'm happy and this will now be my regular hilly run until it holds no fear for me at all. :rotfl:
Happy running everyone; hope you're all still enjoying the sunshine.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
Todays run - 6.8 miles with an average pace of 9.59.
Total for the week so far = 17.9 miles
Really pleased with the run today. I made a very conscious effort to start off slowly and stay slow for a bit longer than I had been doing, and it really paid off in the last 2.8 miles. I've been running too fast too quickly for the longer runs since my hols so I'm pleased I kept it under control today, and therefore had enough to push continuously towards the end (which is what has been suffering with going off too fast). Possibly helped it was a less up and down route than the others this week too
I had time splits per mile of:
1 - 10:42
2 - 10:32
3 - 10:15
4 - 10:30
5 - 9:49
6 - 8:59
7 - 7:09 (pace of 8:56 for 0.8 miles)
Another pleasing thing was that it was my third consecutive day of running this week (as I'm not sure whether its Sat or Sun for the long run yet so wanted Friday clear) and I was able to up the mileage and the pace.
On a different note, what sort of elevation counts as a hilly run (no clever comments from northern dwellers please)? Tuesday's run had gains of 75 feet over 0.6 mile a couple of times in it, descending the same height in 0.3 miles, and then one gain of 101 feet in 0.45 miles, descending over the last mile.
Ooh just seen simply's post - bananas yes (though sans sugar), peanut butter yes, but it has to be marmite!!!! :rotfl:0 -
when you see things like this.... i would class it as a mild incline..
sorry could not help it .
But my "climb" over ally pally is 1.1m with a lift of 271 feet in that distance. even i would consider that a "hill"... the way i see it.. if you have to lean forward ( slightly ) while running its an incline... if you feel that you have to bend you back to get up it, thats when its a hill..Cabbage Patch 09 - 10m - 1hr 06mLeicester 09 -1/2 - 1h 26m0
