    Good morning A_O.

Good luck with your run today. Don't worry about being last (although I know it's hard not to), concentrate on doing the best you can in order to cross that finish line. The next one will be better, I promise :T

  • Hi

I have run 3.2km on Monday found it ok but yesterday evening went to do the 3.2 km again (as I am following a 10k training plan) and got to 1.2km then had to stop as a visitor called. Tried to go back and complete 3.2km but only did 1.7 which in total is 2.9km, I am disappointed with this!

The other thing is I found my energy wasnt great yesterday my food intake was:

Morning (8.00am): Begal and cup of coffee

    Mid-Morning (11.30am): 2 ham baps

    Lunch (1-2pm): nothing

    Dinner (8.30pm): 2 beef burgers

Before bed (11pm): cup of coffee

I know there is a gap between 11.30am and 8.30pm which probably resulted in no energy but can anyone give me any tips to changing this? Not particularly in my diet but more to what times I am eating!!

Also, I had 3 ltrs of water throughout the day!!

Last night was club night. I think they call it 'speedwork' but my legs wouldn't agree . The session was 7x600m with 200m recovery. The track is on a Common and as it's hayfever season there were lots of 'cottony' stuff floating around so I inhaled and snorted my drugs beforehand.

It was hot so everyone ran slower than usual but I have to admit to finding it harder to breathe than usual (asthma) so I practically crawled round. Clearly I need to run in the heat more often :D

Night off tonight and hills tomorrow. I'll need to check out the 'proper' London hills of Crystal Palace so I can do the Eden Marathon with a modicum of 'ease' :rotfl::rolleyes:

Eat every 3 hours and drink loads. Little and often. You wouldnt drive a car with no petrol would you? Food intake = energy output. The experts will be along with detailed info shortly. You'll do ok :T:D

Hi all, just checking in really. Not playing footie tonight as my knee still doesn't feel right when I'm playing or even when I bend over/twist it. It's fine on a steady run though, no problems at all. Walking, going up/down stairs is all fine too. I'm seeing a doctor about it tomorrow.

Poor, are you running in Crystal Palace tomorrow? That's where I live! Let me know if you want a running buddy. Alternately, I can suggest a route for you depending on what you want to do.

    afternoon
Got up and did my first load of intervals for *cough* a long time! So did 2 miles warm up followed by 2 x 1 mile with 2 mins break inbetween (although coughed a lung out on the second set and had to stop at half a mile grrrrrr (8.40 and 3.54) half a mile warm down practically impossible in the heat even at 6:30am

So although I had to abandon half way through second set I am pleased I have set the mark to work towards. I also know I really need to do 3 sets. Plan for next week is slow down a bit and try and get 3 sets in :)

Rich I can't believe you run at that pace all the time
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Hi beer tins, sorry to read about your leg. Thanks for the offer which I will tweak slightly. I'm aiming to do the Eden marathon in October and I understand it's hilly. I hate hills and I hate the cold but I've wanted to visit the Eden Project since it opened so it's my ultimate challenge this year .

Thursdays are hills night with my running club so we head over to Covington Way in Streatham. I'm told Crystal Palace has 'proper' hills so I'll need to check those out on a Sunday run. Do you run on Sundays? I live in Balham but I could get a train/bus over - no way would I consider cycling/running to CP initially , so feel free to make up an 'easy' route and I'll give it bash.

I'm looking forward to it - or am I mad? :rotfl:

Knee's not too bad as far as running goes. The Eden project is great, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

If you run up covington way, you are nearly in Crystal Palace already! OK, not quite... There are loads of hills there so you'll probably hate (but benefit from) it! If you want to ease into the hills you could do worse than just going to the park (right next to CP train station) and running around on the footpaths. There are some severe roads to run up as well like Gipsy Hill, Central Hill and Anerley Hill. Basically anything with "Hill" in the name except maybe Westow Hill! I do run on Sundays, but not always locally, depending on what I'm up to that weekend. PM me if you do come up though and I'll come join you if I'm around and free.

Enemies.Closer, poorbabe is right, little and often is often a good way to go. Doesn't necessarily mean you have to eat more volume/calories, but that you spread out what you eat. I have breakfast, mid-morning snack (what depends on whether I'm running before eating my lunch), lunch, mid-afternoon snack, dinner. However those snacks are made from fruit/bar/snacks I'd previously have eaten all at once with lunch, and lunch is often just the sandwich.

I read an article recently (sorry can't remember where) that said if starving is 1, and full to bursting is 10, you should try and keep your hunger/fullness levels between 4 and 6. However it means eating before you feel starving, and stopping before feeling completely full and most people struggle to do one or both of those.

Reporting in a 5.3 mile run at a 10.09 pace today. Felt harder than a faster pace with higher HR yesterday (only slightly in both cases). The humidity from the cloud I think was worse than full on sun/shade combo of yesterday.

Total so far this week = 11.1 miles
