Sammy, if you do it in under an hour, you'll be under the table in the pub by the time we all get to the finish line :rotfl:Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

If there's too many miles, cut some out but to target times at 10K you really need to be doing long runs of 10-12 miles otherwise you're just in 'get you round' mode. And 'get you round' is something that leaves me scratching my head - why pay exhorbitant race entry fees to just try to complete a distance? That can be done in training!
So cut it back by all means but if you've paid a hefty entry fee surely you want to do the best you can.
Well given that I have only done a max of 6 miles would you up the mileage straight to ten on a long run or go up a couple of miles per week...having written that down I think I am now going to do 8 this weekend...then up it by 2 miles per week. okay no need to answer that one done it all by myself.
I know I have psychological issues with my running...its not that I can't do it, I don't believe that I can - I realised that this weekend, and I need to get out of that thinking.
At the minute I enter the races to ensure I have to keep up the training...now I have five straight weeks to try and follow a training plan where i actually improve.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

But why are they organising a race?
Becuase its for orthopaedic surgeons so they are promoting bone health
(I bet the organiser is a runner and just wants to run one)
