:rotfl:Just re read your post - you mean I should get off my !!!! and get on with it don't you.....

Hehe Well sort of, I suppose!;)

Is it a fun run or a race?

If its a fun run then treat it as one and forget the time. If its a race and you've targetted it, and paid handsomely to be there, then why would you want to take half measures in preparing for it?

Why is there too many miles in Sally's plan? You may be capable of more than you think but only you can judge what motivation you have. :D:D

I think its the biggest club in the country :D, but at least you can be annoymous - I looked at it for a while but I'm going to join belgrave harriers as they train at Battersea and dont mind me never going or racing for them :D (I need one in case I run 1:30 for a half this year - you have to have EA affiliation for the LM championship which means being part of a club - yawn)

Well given that I have only done a max of 6 miles would you up the mileage straight to ten on a long run or go up a couple of miles per week...having written that down I think I am now going to do 8 this weekend...then up it by 2 miles per week. okay no need to answer that one done it all by myself.

I know I have psychological issues with my running...its not that I can't do it, I don't believe that I can - I realised that this weekend, and I need to get out of that thinking.

At the minute I enter the races to ensure I have to keep up the training...now I have five straight weeks to try and follow a training plan where i actually improve.

Yep, gradual increases in distance to let your body adapt. By doing so it is no harder to run 12 miles than it is to run 6 now.

'Not believing you can' is something which should disappear bit by bit as you tick off the next milestone, and then the next milestone.....and then one day you'll realise that you've achieved things you never thought you could. So then you can't avoid believing that you can achieve.:D

To be fair, 5 weeks isn't very long - when targetting a race the last week will be spent tapering anyway so the amount of improvement from 4 weeks training is going to be very limited. A minute per mile quicker than yesterday in 4 weeks is probably a bit ambitious but have a plan that goes well beyond that race to the next target and keep the momentum going....consistency is what gets results!:D:D

maybe take off 25% each day see how you get through the week and go from that? if its to much take 5% off the next week or if you feel fine add back 5%? all about find out where you are at...

between you and me and everyone else that reads this thread.. i had a major mind failure yesterday on my run... I was just going out to try out the new shoes I dident have a distance in mind to do really but after about 4m I really wanted to stop!!! :o

at which point i got anyoed with myself and pushed myself to do the normal 15m target for my weekly long run :)..

Well i have done it in 1.04 so I am looking to improve by 4 minutes. (yesterdays race was almost a solid hill for 4 miles.....so am quite chuffed at myself....)

I would just like to put five SOLID weeks of training in rather than the hit and miss style I have going on now...
