Sorry sammy I was probably being too simplistic; my training plan is for a full marathon but has 10K and 1/2 marathon races built in. I assumed that the weeks leading up to the 10K race might suit - my lack of experience showing again I'm afraid. :o

My brain obviously works differently to yours because I like having a long term goal to train for as it motivates me to get out running which I'm hoping will then become a habit. It's worked so far :D

    :rotfl:....my brain works like this....september half marathon.....loads of time....:rotfl:

Despite your lack of experience you are doing great so don't put yourself down at all....

Because of my chaotic lifestyle and with OH working away, daughters having babies etc I am finding it very hard to plan anything despite that I am an accountant and I like life very orderly...:rotfl:

So I am breaking it up into small chunks...(with the end game in mind)

edit: thinking about it I am probably like you in my way of thinking but my lifestyle doesn't allow it to stick to it...

Thats why you should do a plan till September though - you'll make time for it far more than if you dont (you'll just end up putting training sessions off otherwise)...
