As every I am working my way towards a 60min 10k - would like to beat last weeks time of 1.04.21 - lets see if the warm up helps.....not sure what the weather forecast will be like....
Would you like a weather forecast now sammy???? It's pouring with rain and very, very windy here today - should make for fun race conditions. Part of my race today takes me along near the sea front so I'm expecting to be blown off my feet. :eek:
I take back everything I said about wanting to finish in under an hour - given the weather conditions I will honestly be pleased with taking part and finishing today.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -

Ha, well I spoke too soon, it tipped it down while I was doing my warm up run there....:rolleyes: and we all had to stay indoors till the start of the race, and because of the weather I reckon there was only a 50% turnout to normal. It stopped raining just as we started though.
I did it in 1.06.07 so a wee bit slower than last week but then last weeks was flat and this one was mainly all up hill for first two thirds of the race and then downhill for the last bit. Before I did the race all I could think of was 'why am I doing this to myself?' Now, I feel great (like a wind up bunny! and now I remember why I do it).
Actually I am starting to notice my recovery is better as well so I must be improving.
My next challenge is keeping the training up. I have my exams the first week in June and it will be hard trying to balance studying and keeping up the training - in amongst family etc....next 10k is 21st June the run for all in Leeds so would like to get my time to sub 60 mins by then.....Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Any new races that need adding/amending - let me know and I'll make the necessary changes!
Black = Completed Races.
Blue = Planned Races.
The blue figures next to the results are the WAVA age grading percentage followed by the relevant world record to which the time is being compared.
With age grading everyone is on an equal footing - the score takes out any advantage/disadvantage due to age and any advantage/disadvantage due to being male/female.
So whatever your age or sex if you score 52% it is better than another person's 51% regardless of their age/sex.
So what are the scores? They are quite simply a measure of your performance compared to the person who holds the world record for that distance in your age group and of your gender.
Clearly some of the WRs are out of date, but there has to be a stable basis on which to calculate otherwise the gradings would need to be re-computed every time a WR changes.
So, in simple terms your WAVA rating is:
Your time is 4 x World Record 25.00%
Your time is 2 x World Record 50.00%
Your time is 1.5 x World Record 66.67%
Your time is 1.25 x World Record 80.00%

Good effort, Sammy - taking into account the hills and the downpour today's result may well have been better than last week's.
And the main signal for general fitness level is time to recover so that is looking very positive.
Keep plugging away and you will close in on that 60 minutes!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
