    Morning everyone

    Back to work................BOO :(

I did a 5k last night and was 31.22. My first goal I think is to get under 30 mins for my 5k, then maybe think about a 10k

    hi monkey
    dont get disheartened
i was ill for a week and i found it easier to put my feet up, relax and wait until the worst was over. once i was on the mend i felt fresh and enjoyed my first run.

struggling round with a bad chest or injurires is no fun....

when you get going again take it slow....
you will be amazed how quickly you pick up.

    good luck...

    Hey!
    i'm a newbie!

I just completed the race for life in 40minutes with no training! i now have awful blisters

I would love to do the london marathon and am thinking of doing the norwich half marathon in November as a start!

I used to run alot at school & have a treadmill but its very noisy so until i move it into my garage i cant use it!:(

thinking of joining a running club

mmmmm, my motivation for doing it in the first place.....to lose weight.....

It didn't work, however, I did discover that once I started to run I love it...once I have done a run I love it. However, starting it is becoming an issue IYSWIM - it needs to become a habit, its a habit I want. However, family life seems to be interfering!

I am hoping that when I start working from home its a habit that I will form but in the meantime....

Sorry, I am having a little off day with the selfishness of my family starting to 'grate' a little..My life seems to come way down on a list of priorities..I have had to fight not to give up on my next two weekends races....

You are not alone sammy, this is why it took so long for me to start really. This weekend it was running or go to the supermarket. No prizes for what I had to do instead. Now I've come down with this chesty cold.

However, I work from home too and I find that I want to do the 'work' first and often that eats into the day and there is no time to get started on the run. I am hoping things will change and that I'll get a new routine as the old routine is what I've been doing for such a long time.

Am I weird? I don't actually enjoy the running. I could easily give up during the first mile but push myself to do the 3.16 mile route that I've set up, but it's how I feel afterwards. Obviously I feel reallly tired but for some reason I also feel fantastic. Does this make me a bit strange?

It's a shame you're not enjoying the running - but the feeling afterward is entirely normal :)

Are you pushing yourself hard on the route you're doing? I find if I'm really pushing myself over a distance, I don't get a lot of what you'd call "enjoyment" out of the run itself, it can get pretty hard work.

However, doing shorter runs or a little slower, I really do enjoy. Find yourself somewhere nice to run, something pretty to look at...make an effort to say "good morning!" and give a smile to everyone you pass, just generally have a bit of fun as you run, spread a little happiness.

Also, running with company I find a lot more fun than running on my own...

    i wouldnt say weird.....
but maybe you need to look to do different routes to avoid the chore-like feeling. it should be something to look forward to
