Thanks Rich. Yes, I've seen the pics. On the second one of me I look like I've got my tongue hanging out from looking at the woman ahead of me's backside. Nice!

    I did notice!;)

Thats the good thing about the parkruns, they're always there so if you arent available one week there's not long to wait for the next one.:D

Like you say, its all about getting the routine sorted out, then it becomes part of day to day activity and doesn't seem to take as much time up.

I need to think about next race as today I can feel myself slipping into post race blues :(

Nothing unusual in that for a first marathon.

Thats why you 'plan through' your marathon to the next build up well before actually tackling the big day.

Then it just becomes a stepping stone on a journey rather than a destination.:D

How's the legs sally? Mine are conspiring against me today, big time

Becky is reporting being pretty stiff this morning too, so you're all getting the 48 hour stiffness.

The good news is that by the end of today the worst will be over.:D:D

  • I'm better today, taken the dog for a very long walk. Going to enter the Windsor half marathon with my other half in Sept. She completed the FLM 08 which gave me the buzz to do it this year. She came and watched me with some friends and now thinks she wants to do it again! Last year she said never again.

    Morning All!

WOW its hot in NY - up to 32 degrees today :D

Havent had a chance to catch up but am having a great time so far and nice to see lots of new faces :D

I would say though - when I can do it again - got to start working on a new training plan for when I get back for Abingdon and I cant wait :D

Have fun all will go for a run tomorrow - a bit stiff but its mostly from sitting still on the flight I think ;)
  • i thought becky seemed to have vanished on us, didn't realise she was in new york! lol hope your havin a fab time becky!

Well it's just over 2 weeks to go to my first 10k, and i'm really starting to pee myself now! What with the weeks and weeks of set backs and missed training sessions thanks to the lurgy that lasted over a month, i've gone from feeling fab and putting 4 miles in at least 3 times a week on the treadmills, to now struggling to get to the gym at all :( MUST try harder!!!!!

I've entered too, finally. I must be crazy to stay up this late just to enter a race.......;)

Me too, but unlike you night owls I was up at 6.00 to register this morning - I don't do late :rotfl:

I finally feel as though I have shaken off this virus (pretty nasty it was too) so will be heading out for 4 miles later today; it's supposed to be fartlek but will probably be more slow stretches than fast today.

I have made good use of my resting time this weekend looking at races to enter so Rich can you please add The Stur Half on Sunday 2 August to the list for me please? :D

So, who fancies writing a post on complementary exercise for running? Is there any?

For instance, if you're running a marathon, is practising cycling for 4 hours actually of any benefit to you?

Can doing leg-weights improve your pace and/or stamina?

Are football, badminton and the like of benefit, or are you better off just running all the time?

Simply I am almost certain I will also do the Stur Half as its so close for me it would be stupid not to really...now I need to get my time under 2 hours :)

That would be good Sally - I've already sent off my application form (keen aren't I???) as I needed something to cheer me up and look forward to after missing my race on Sunday. :(

Under 2 hrs?? The furthest I've run so far is 9 miles so I'm going to settle for getting round the course - you can get the drinks in while you're waiting for me to finish :D:D
