Well Hypno proved yesterday that you can run better 20 years later than when you're 18....so where's the problem?;)

True! my runchum says you become a better distance runner with age...to which I said Becky will end up in the bloomin olympics then...:T

sammy, what time are you aiming for in those 10ks?

My only goal this year Hypno was to run a 10k in under 60 mins...and that was my intention for Leeds...the last one I did two weeks ago was in 1.07 but it was cross country.

The crowle one is also cross country but the leukeamia run is not (round lots of pretty lanes though) so I am hoping to maybe do that one in 60 mins...

Well, I am very happy with that - my time is pretty consistant throughout really! And I still can't believe just how close in time me and sally were!!

rich - nice to meet you and becky on Sunday :T Can you please add to the race list the Race for Life 5k which I am doing on Sunday 3rd May? Thank you!

Today has been really tough - I was very emotional this morning.....something which I had not prepared for. Also, I lost my appetite somewhat, which was also unheard of, but have started to eat again now. My thighs are the bit of me that ache most - everything else is reasonably good, but my thighs are a killer! But most of all, I am just incredibly incredibly tired!

Thats the first thing I noticed, Hypno - how consistent your splits were. And there's certainly no 'pace dropping like a stone' effect which the wall would give. So it looks like you got it pretty spot on, I doubt if many people yesterday can show a similarly consistent set of splits.:D

Yes, it was great to meet you too - I was surprised just how calm you and Becky were, you were both sitting on the grass as though you were out for a picnic, not a marathon.:p Thanks for the coffee btw.:D

I dont know whether the runners have consciously thought it through but there is actually no need to feel any pressure to get to the start on time anymore. So what if you're 10 minutes late, it really doesn't matter. It might actually be a good strategy to arrive 20-30 minutes late, have free use of the loos, no queueing for anything and then have a nice clear start in front of you.

I think the thighs deserve to be tired after yesterday. You should sleep well tonight!

So, if there is no indication of having "hit the wall", then presumably I have a good base on which to build? I reckon the heat probably accounted for a minute per mile, but I certainly didn't get out of breath on the way round.....it was the legs that were finding it tough going.

So, that means what? More miles in training? More often? More speedwork and hills (bearing in mind the lack of local hills round here!)? More long runs? More core strength work? More coffee and chocolate? Or all of the above?

I really really want to get close to 2 hours for the half marathon at the end of November - can you please give me a training schedule......longer midweek run (up to 10 miles) on a Wednesday, long steady run on a Saturday OR a Sunday (rest on the other day please) and able to run a couple more times a week too, preferably interchangable!

I'm watching the marathon highlights on iplayer :D

I was one of those 6000 odd that required medical attention......

I've seized up more the day has gone along, tired, luckily taken tomorrow and Wednesday off as well.

Still can't believe it's done, two weeks off from running then I'm going to carry on the training, need to get faster.

What time are you wanting to do the 10k in Sally..

Rich can you put me down for 10th May - Crowle 10k, 17th May - leukemia 10k Bromsgrove, 21st June Leeds 10k, 28th June, Bromsgrove Timberhonger and now 13th June Robin Hood half marathon

A while ago I did a timed 10k and I think I did it in 1:04 so I would love to be under 60 mins

    Hi all.......first post on here.

I have decided to do RFL in July. I had my first road run today as have been running on the treadmill for the last few months. had got up to 5k but had 2 months out due to work.

Anyway, I measured a route and for my first ever road outing thought a short run to give it a try would be best. Was a total of 1.5miles. The first half i had to stop several times, however coming back I managed 3/4 mile in one go!

Ok ok not an outstanding feat but for the woman who was always last at school x-country i was quite pleased with self!!

My thighs ache a little bit which is different for me as usually on the treadmill it is my shins and knees that hurt. Feel glad in a way it is my thighs as they are good and strong so will hopefully carry me on!!!
