Noooooo I'll do a plan for her if she wants but dont let her do ANY run/walk ;) She'll need to have been walking at quite a brisk pace and up to 4 miles for it to make any difference - she should be fine to start running from a base like that though :D

P.S. I am having thoughts about starting a little website that offers people proper running advice and tailored running plans (for free of course), because I am getting a bit sick of the bad advice on the internet re: number of miles to run a week for good times, 16 week training plans for marathons, run/walk etc, so if anyone spots any good peer reviewed research (I have quite a bit already but its always good to have lots and lots) then post up the linky please!

Cool! Let me know if you want any help with the site, I'm fairly handy with them (my graphics suck though!). Especially if you want some help writing a "generate your own training plan" engine.

Cool thats great Beer tins :D

I can code HTML and use NVU at lot at work, but likely will purchase dreamweaver - but an engine for training plans using php or Java would be great - I presume it would a conditional array??

I've done stuff like that before to create a pricing model so I know the basics but I guess its all about how many options you want people to have at the start and how many models whether you go down the algoryhthm route??

Yeah, you could do it on java or on php really, the main difference is one is executed client side, the other server side. I'd probably do it PHP to be honest, if you have MySQL databases it then makes it easier if you want to blog on it, add a wiki etc. etc.

BTW, yes you would probably use a conditional array, depending on complexity.

You can make it as complex as you like, but you might end up writing a LOT of formulas.

Also, while I have no problem with dreamweaver, it's worth noting that it's essentially another type of editor. Consider using http://www.w3.org/Amaya/ (Amaya). I haven't used it myself yet, but it's meant to be very simple to use and is developed by w3.org, the people who determine good web development practice. It lets you write your site using xhtml and css. I could bore you by banging on at length at why this is better and makes future changes easier.

    Week34
    Mon13/4 Rest Day
    Tues14/4 Rest Day
    Weds15/4 10K 52:35 (8:29/mile) (Pulse 96)
    Thurs16/4 Rest Day
    Fri17/4 10K 46:55 (7:35/mile) (Pulse 96)

Oooo I think the marathon speed kickback has suddenly come through!:D

I set off for a steady 10K run, but got to 5K in 23:56 feeling effortless, which was around 3 mins quicker than expected. The return journey, which is uphill, was slightly swifter in 22:59.

So considering the pulse was the same as Wednesday night it certainly seems the extra speed is down to the well documented kickback. It is actually a PB for this course.:D:D:D

It felt great from start to finish, so it will now be interesting to see if that is reflected at the top end of the speed range in tomorrow morning's race.:D:D
