Rich can yopu put me down for the Mansfield 1/2 marathron on 28th june 2009. It looks like this will be the tester for my training and its got a 2 1/2 hour cut off so will have to be on form to get round in that time.
What would the qualifying time be for me to get into FLM 2010 without having to buy my way in?Running Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0 -

Its nice to see these time limits becoming commonplace - even generous time limits are the most effective way to stop the charities getting a stranglehold on a race and, due to the huge hourly cost of closing roads, keeping the entry fees down.:D:D
As for FLM, if the rules stay the same as this year, and you're in the open age category (sorry if I should know that:o), then a time of sub 2:45 prior to the end of January will be required.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Rich surely its sub 3 hours for a GFA place for next year but it has to be achieved before 21st August 2009, or sub 2:45 for a championship place which has to be got before 1st January 2010 (roughly)
You could always try the ballot entry JJ - it opens on 27th April
I know time limits are great - its 2 hours 40 so very slow but it just stops it becoming a charity event and gives it some kind of running kudos so it should attract some high quality runners who you can watch and learn from0 -
You're right (of course:rolleyes:) - I'd forgotten that Good For Age applied to the Open Age category as well!:o
So, sub 3 hours before August is another way in.
Also, a sub 1:15 half marathon before January is another option.:D
Time limits in normal road races also mean that you dont have to enter 6 months before an event because of charities filling all the places up.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Your plan has been sent - time to get eating some porridge to get your strength up!:p
Eeek! Thanks Rich. Didn't get it until this morning for some reason! I may not make the target, but that will get me fit and pretty close to it. Everyone else has backed down from their heat-of-the-moment banter and stupid predictions, so I won't face shame for not making it. I'll still aim to get as close as I can though. 2 lots of intervals and one race a week, if that doesn't help my speed, I don't know what will!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

Although it appears the frecklton is pretty full but then I realised its only 600 competitors
(about time you realised I'm always right)

Hehe You could be the star of the team, Beer Tins.
Just be cautious when doing sessions for the first time, the risk of injury is always there so its a case of just getting through the sessions in the initial phase - the speed comes when peaking towards the race.
Each session is based on 4800m of running at speeds you wouldn't normally reach, dropping to 3200m at even higher speeds towards the race.
You'll certainly learn a lot about how your body work during the next few weeks.:D:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

BTW is no one else doing the JPMC corporate challenge in July? It's fairly popular, they even split it into 2 different races!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0

Doubt it, the guy organising it in the company is gunning for a sub 20 min time so roughly 5m 40s miles :eek:RichOneday wrote: »Just be cautious when doing sessions for the first time, the risk of injury is always there so its a case of just getting through the sessions in the initial phase - the speed comes when peaking towards the race.
