Wimbledon is generally better for me, but my wife has reminded me that we have visitors staying Friday night, so it would be antisocial of me to sneak off to Wimbledon for a run. Grrr. You do them fairly regularly, though, don't you? Sounds like the kind of thing I should be doing, free races at 5K, close enoughto my 5.6K to be useful.

What have I let myself in for? :rotfl:

I do but this is my last one for a while since I'll be tapering, then in NY - get down there - they are friendly, you dont need me to hold you hand :D

Also you'll be in the top half of the field since your 5k is way faster than mine so no need to worry about looking silly :D

Beer Tins - I'll be doing the Wimbledon one on 25th April as well as this Saturday, so if you fancy it, get down there.

So 38 min 10k fitness by July - a tough challenge but doable.
You'll need a lot of strength to hold that sort of pace so your first task is to pile the miles on while training through 5k races at least once a week. You will also need 2-3 10k races to develop your thighs sufficiently.

18:36 for 5k followed by another 650m at the same pace will be quite an achievement but will certainly get you back in the swing of things.:D

But the following day you will be running and he will be watching.....so it more than evens itself out! In fact, as he has to watch the best race in the whole wide world (big it up why not!), you still get the better end of the bargain!

Good luck tonight Chick with the run and I hope the back gets better soon :D

Oooo send us some pics of the pretty surrounds if you get a chance :D:D

(I've had too much wine at lunchtime today)

What are you like with your wine and champers? (hic) I'll certainly be taking some pictures, though possibly not whilst running :p. I'll update you when I get back with some pretty views.

Cool. Wimbledon is in the diary for the 25th. As long as the wife lets me leave my DIY duties. Should have made sufficient progress by then, though!

Interesting that you say I should pile on the miles now. Any chance of a plan?! Doing 4 milers about 3 times a week at the mo. I know I need to up that!

Yep, I'll knock something together later on.

It is very much a speed endurance event, so you will need to get some long runs in, well into double figures. After all the aim is to maintain a fast pace for 14 laps of a track and you need a big engine for that.

The corporate challenge is a super hot race, companies have been known to put olympic athletes on the payroll for a short while to steal the glory. Its bare knuckle stuff!:p
