It is very much a speed endurance event, so you will need to get some long runs in, well into double figures. After all the aim is to maintain a fast pace for 14 laps of a track and you need a big engine for that.
The corporate challenge is a super hot race, companies have been known to put olympic athletes on the payroll for a short while to steal the glory. Its bare knuckle stuff!:p
The fastest men are around 16 minutes, women 19 minutes. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some pros in there!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
Mind you thats about the fatest for parkrun:
Leeds winner last week 15:28
Wimbledon winner ladies 21st March: 19:01
So you'll have no problems being dragged up to that standard if you want ;D0 -

That equates to about 17:30 and 21:30 respectively over 3.5 miles though. If I can keep up with the fastest women I should be fine (gulp!)Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

Shes pretty swift at Wimbledon!!! I wouldnt expect to do anywhere near that time to start with though - just take the first one as you feel - sometimes the second lap bites you on that course and I dont know why (since its flat )0 -

Sorry but REALLY - men and their egos!!!:rolleyes::rolleyes::p:D
Its hillarious isn't it!
See if women were doing it would be all about inclusion and everyone would let the office fatty do it if she wanted
not meaning to sound nasty, that wasn't intended but us women like everyone to join in IYSWIM...ok I'll get my coat!I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

I dont know if women are really any worse/better tbh
I certainly wouldnt have a beginner runner on my team if we were all taking it seriously, but its the cheating that makes me laugh (its like Oxford and the boat race - getting people to the uni who are Olympic rowers and then they just happen to row for Oxford in the boat race :rolleyes::rolleyes:)
Like cant you find enough talent in your company?? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Erm, keeping up with the fastest woman may result in your lungs exploding in a ball of fire half way round the first lap.
For the sake of your health, probably best to try keeping up with the labrador or the dalmation first.:p
Oh, and dont be fooled by the 'children'. 14 years old and parkruns = fast!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I agrre - but doing anything within your talent, training and ability is totally fine - I hate people who cheat though and at the end of all - they've really only cheated themselves - its like people who lie about running pb's I mean whats the point at the end of the day??
