Beer Tins and Becky - Lets hope that both ailments become nothing more serious than niggles. Probably just the body's way of saying ease off a bit.

    Welcome to all newbie runners!

I hope that everyone's niggles are just that - niggles, and that a bit of rest and relaxation sorts things out.

I went out with my student to test the legs.....although yesterday I could hardly walk, I felt much better today and am pleased to say that I happily trotted round a little loop - only 2.75 miles, and I didn't have a watch so no idea how fast/slow, but it was very comfortable, and the main thing is that I am not sofa-bound for the week as I had expected :j

So, tomorrow should be my usual Wednesday longish run.....just as long as aches and pains don't catch up with me!

    Hi everyone.

Sorry to read of those with niggles but try not to rush the recovery. You know what will happen

Well I'm officially signed up for a race: The Richmond Half. So the training has begun :T Tonight was a club night. It was 4x1200 with 400 recovery. I ran with two newbies so it was a gentle session for me, even if we were the last ones to finish :rotfl:. My breathing regulation exercise (taken from RW) seems to be helping me but it does mean I have to run slower at the moment, which can't be bad I suppose.

Tomorrow I have to run an 'easy' 4 miles but not sure when to do it: run to work or run at lunch time? I'll probably decide in the morning based on how my legs are feeling :D

Off to sleep now. Have a good day tomorrow.

Hypno- That's excellent news if you're getting most of the recovery done from an 18.5 miler in 48 hours. You're definitely making great progress now.

Poor - Nice to see that you've got a new target. Straight into training with an interval session, tough girl!

Its looking like a gorgeous day shaping up out there - enjoy your running everyone.:D :D

It's very cold here today - rather icy, and yesterday evening we had fog which was not pleasant, but I am not running until this evening so what the weather will be like is anyone's guess!!!

I am pleased that I managed to do a little run yesterday - ok, it was not far, but it was a test more than anything, so now I will have the confidence to run a bit further next time. My calves ached a little, there is no denying, but not so much that it was painful, so that is good news.

Either that.....or I didn't work hard enough on Sunday :rotfl:

Have a good run to anyone getting out there today.

Awww sorry you're ill Uk - too much dreaming of greek massages ;)

    Hope you feel better soon!

Good luck in Paris Ed - are you aiming for a particular time or just going out to have fun??

Thanks Becky. It's a bit of both. I don't take running hugely seriously. It's more about being part of an event and finishing the course. I ran the Berlin Marathon in 2007 and it was just amazing and getting under 4:00 was the icing on the cake. A few months ago I ran the Geneva one, which was so different; very low key but still very friendly.
I try to do one overseas marathon a year and may be another in this country. I might go for a total of three this year. I run my local one, the Robin Hood every year.

Best wishes to you for the FLM next month.

WOW three in a year is a serious go I would say :D:D

I'm aiming for two this year! London and Abingdon but I'm out for three days at the moment with my first ever running injury and finding it quite frustrating - I wnat to run - and the weather is perfect for it :rolleyes:

Ah well its all good in the end I suppose! (I'll just have to lay off the doughnuts for a few days eh! :D)
