  • hey folks! :o

sorry i've not been around much the last couple of days, the lurgy well and truly beat me to a pulp and left me in my bed to rot. Thankfully with the help of my good friend Monsiour Beechams and absolutley bucket loads of Halls menthol eucalyptus vapour sweet things (the hardcore black ones :p ) it would appear that i'm finally on the mend!!!! :j Still a little bit snotty but my ears have unpopped after living under water for a week :T my achy joints have all returned to their normal fat states :o and even my throat and lungs seem to have righted themselves, although being too ill to smoke has almost certainly had some part in those lol.

I'm now well and truly itching to get back into my trainers, but have lost what was going to be my fourth and final week of walking, so will have to do that this week  i was really looking forward to making my first proper step from lard a**e to Pink's doppelganger :(

So I'm now reaching panic stations, could i make a formal request for a training plan Becky/Rich/AnyoneWithMoreKnowledgeThanMe lol please please please please pleeeaaaase :D

I need a nine week plan to take me from next monday 22nd March, through to Sunday 17th May (race day) and get me from my current status of walking 1 km in around 13 minutes at 5km/hr, upto completing a 10k. With 3 gym sessions a week, but I could fit in an alfresco session at weekends.

I'm not looking for miracles, just to finish would be amazing! But with my calculations, if i were to walk the whole thing at 5km/hr it would take 130 minutes, so if i could get to a sub 2 hour time i would actually faint!!!!! lol

Also is it worth getting a gadget to track my performance, i've looked into garmins and things and nike+ but can't really afford to spend a fortune?????

    Hi Pink,

I'll work on one for you this evening if you want :D Can you PM me your email address (I dont already have it do I??)

Glad to hear you're feeling better too. You dont NEED any gadgets - I dont have one, all you need really is something that acts as a stopwatch and mapmyrun.com to track your distances on, but if you want to buy a gadget peeps around here seem to use the garmin 405 with most success - garmin 50 is just a jumped up sports watch really!
  • aaaaaaahhhhhhh cheers for that becky, i'll head over to mapmyrun for a snoop now, i swear sometimes i should have been a bloke lol i get all excited over gadgets, so when i found out my new trainers are nike+ compatible i could feel the drool coming lol, but my DFW ways will send me to argos for a cheap stop watch lol.

Will pm you my email now :)

Hope you got to work okay Hypno ;) Are you running any more races as part f your prep now or just going to go along with the high mileage training?? 5:16 is 12 minute miling so I'm sure you'll be able to beat that! Whereas 4:30 is 10:20 minute miling or so - do you think that could be on??

Ouch JJ - that eye sounds nasty - hope it gets better soon!!!

No more races, except my Dad's 10k on Good Friday, so I will just go with the milage I think.

As for the time - 10:20 is optimistic for the full distance, but even 11 min miling (my default option, it seems) would bring me in at 4:48 so I would be more than happy with that.....I can always leave the 4:30 for my next attempt!

I am aiming for a nice steady 11 min mile and if I have anything left in me a bit quicker towards the end when I get out my jet pack:rotfl: Actually someone today suggested I get the trainers with the wheels in and use them...did chuckle to myself
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Hi Sally - have you got any pre-marathon races planned?

Hypno I think that 10k will be tough mentally so good on you for doing it! And you are talking about another marathon again :)

I aiming for 10 miles warm up, 10 miles run and a 10k race - but since my racing so far has been rubbish in terms of carrying out plans I think I'll be very happy if I stick to that!!
