but again, becky, think back just a few months - the thought of running that sort of milage would have been laughed out of court!

I've not been over 40 miles a week yet, but trying to fit in extra around the kids and work at the mo would be very difficult, so I will be pleased enough with my 30-somethings! Still far more than I have ever done before.

How are your muscles after yesterday's race......if you say that they still feel fresh, I will probably head over and kill you :rotfl:

    In which case, I can't walk either!:p :p;)

But the fact is that higher weekly mileage does train the muscles to withstand the rigours of such runs. So I'll feel it in this week's training runs for a few days, but there's no sign of anything unusual in terms of walking around.

This is the reason why high mileage becomes pretty easy after a while because there are very few runs that you feel any after effects from.

But I do soooo empathise with your current predicament, its not pleasant and is usually accompanied by chafing in various places just to add to the ouchiness. The good news is that everything always mends.:D :D

Ah, no chafing - I learnt that lesson 20 years ago!

Right off to work....no laughing as I attempt the stairs.......:D :o

Good luck on the stairs :D (I was stiff last week too - I think it affects women more than men ;))

Well I did my second run since I started and managed to do a slightly longer route in less than 15 minutes, which was a definate improvement on Fridays run.:D I know it seems paltry to what some are doing, but early days eh!

I'm now in a dilemma as have got a bad sore throat and nigglling cough  (feel great otherwise) but really want to go out again today to keep the flow going and would rather have a day off on Tuesday or Wednesday whilst I am at work.

On the plus side I signed up to the Race for Life yesterday and have already got £35 in sponsorship which is a real incentive to keep going. In the past after a couple of sessions of any excercise I usually give up so that's a real boost. :T

Who knows maybe one day I'll be doing some of the amazing distances that that some of you manage to clock up!!!

kaz that is a great start! You will be positively flying around RFL come May! Remember that we all started where you are - if you head back to the original thread around September/October time, we were also posting about having run our first miles, and wondering if we would ever get beyond it! So, my reckoning is that by about July, we will be reading about your long runs too!!

    Well done Kaz!

Hypno is right - if you go back to the original thread you may be surprised just how little we were all able to do back then!

Just dont force anything and you will achieve what you want - the only thing that will scupper you, and put you off, is running too quickly. So take it easy, enjoy the scenery and feel great.:D :D
