The kids don't need as much energy as their poor mother who has to run them about all over the country and work extra hard to pay for it all
ukevas, I had a fry up last night for supper...it was yummmmmmm
It is a shame that there are no parkruns near me, but unless I organise one myself.......NO!!!!! I will do the RFL in May though, and that will have to do! Perhaps there will be a 5k summer series somewhere.....it is the sort of thing some running clubs put on in the evenings......off to have a look on runnersworld!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hi all, some quick advice please, I usually run about 4-5 miles at the moment. I've just mapped a run that is 8.5 miles, is this too much of a jump in distance at once?
If I do 8.5 miles today, I've got my Burrator run tomorrow (that was postponed from last week) which is 7.13 miles, then a couple of 5 mile runs later in the week?
To much too fast or okay???

Yep, its too much!
That isn't to say you couldn't do it - but as with too much speed too early, too much distance too early leads to a huge increase in injury risk.
Your body simply isn't prepared for big jumps in activity. Any training will lead to the body repairing and coming back stronger, ready to do the same again plus a LITTLE BIT more. That's why all increases have to be gradual to go along with the flow of what the body wants to do.
Increases on long runs of 20% max should be the benchmark.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

i vary it,
so maybe, 3mile, then 5, then maybe a 4, then push for the full 6.
Might put in 3miles tonight and press on the time for 25-26mins without being out of breath.
Next long run will be friday at a guess, if i dont do the bike trackday.0 -
Well done on your pb Becky and well done for your 16 miles Hypno xx

Okay parents gone - phew
Off for a nap then out for my run - Simply yes send over elevation charts to my email and I'll lok at them tonight or tomorrow, but usually a lower incline over a longer distance is better - to give you an idea I started with Constitution Hill in London as my hill run and now I do 400ft hills whn in Leeds (there arent any in London) - its all about building up gradually0
