We liked it, the rooms are small, but they have everything. The whole place is also has extremely eccentric decorations. A bit camp/kitsch in fact. Service is great and the food too. Did you have the Thai menu, or the English one? Both are great, anyway. We learned afterwards that the place was popular with swingers and it doesn't surprise me. There seems to be a lot of leopard-print, leather and mirrors all around the rooms! And the key-ring is a pocket sized leather cat-o-nine-tails . We didn't have any knocks on our door though, not sure if we should be offended! you probably noticed it isn't exactly MSE price-wise, but my wife won the stay (B&B) as a work prize, so we only paid for our dinners and bar drinks really. Both expensive, but top notch.
Eaten both of the foods previously, probably prefer the English a fraction though...Did you treat yourself to oysters as bar snacks? Or enjoy the champagne on tap?
*sigh* if only all pubs were like that.
Anyway, I'm quite excited by the idea of the Abingdon race - if I'm gonna train for one, it may as well be over the summer when I've plenty of light etc to play around in. If I'm going to enter, I think I'll be doing it soon - the White Horse half (also local) filled up way sooner than they thought it would - so maybe running's really on the rise round here in the recession.0 -

We enjoyed both the oysters and champagne on tap (well, you have to try that one, don't you?!). I preferred the English menu too I think, on the basis that I have 3 good, reasonably priced Thai places on my doorstep, so it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to Thai food! I had the liver and bacon. You don't get liver much on menus in this country any more. I think the British have become quite squeamish when it comes to food in some ways, even if they do try more foreign food. Anyway, I almost always go for it when I do see it and this was one of the best I've had. All the food was spot on.
Off home now, taking the wife out for Tapas. Bye!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

Wow, it has been busy on here today with plans galore starting to form - it must be the nice sunshine that has brought everyone out of their shells!;)
Come on guys - Abingdon is flat as a pancake, you couldn't hope for a better marathon to get started. Like London but without having to fight through the crowds!:D
Oh gawd, who mentioned champagne on tap? Hope Becky didn't notice - it could end up being an expensive weekend!:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
