I'm not 100% sure I'll be fit enough to do a full marathon by Oct, but it could be a good target for me to aim for.
I'll certainly be around for post-race beers and so on, anyway.
Come on you know you want to, only 650 runners last year and no very fast times either
:D:D right up to 5:30 as well!
6 months is plenty of time to train considering how fit you are already , its also a flat course and only £30!!! Thats probably the cheapest marathon you'll find down south0 -

I've been sat here slowly warming to the idea, actually.
If I get all moved in and stuff by may (better be in by then!) I'll have may, june, july, august, september and some of october to get the fitness up - with the long evenings over the summer, that sounds quite easily achievable, actually - and I think doing that would take care of pretty much all the running resolutions I have this year.0 -
Abingdon, eh? I was there about a month ago with my wife. We had a long weekend staying in a place called the Crazy Bear Hotel in Stadhampton (and the whole place is a bit crazy!). Nice area.
So... You're all doing a mara there in October, eh?

If anyone else fancies it - join in! 6 months is a perfect amount of time to train and it means I can draw up more plans *Becky goes off chuckling into the excel dungeon*0 -

No way! So jealous! Always wanted to stay there, *love* the food.
What did you think of it??
(any place that has directions by helicopter on their website is OK by me!)
(this isn't classed as OT, is it?)

We liked it, the rooms are small, but they have everything. The whole place is also has extremely eccentric decorations. A bit camp/kitsch in fact. Service is great and the food too. Did you have the Thai menu, or the English one? Both are great, anyway. We learned afterwards that the place was popular with swingers and it doesn't surprise me. There seems to be a lot of leopard-print, leather and mirrors all around the rooms! And the key-ring is a pocket sized leather cat-o-nine-tails . We didn't have any knocks on our door though, not sure if we should be offended! you probably noticed it isn't exactly MSE price-wise, but my wife won the stay (B&B) as a work prize, so we only paid for our dinners and bar drinks really. Both expensive, but top notch.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

I am tempted. Is it likely to fill out, i.e. can I make a late decision based on how training is going?Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

I think it usually fills up around July time according to the website - so that would give you enough time to see how things are going in the next month or two (I havent entered yet either).
