"A nice plod" will do nicely, simply......especially if you had a touch of the lurgy. Good luck for tonight, but don't push it - just do as you feel......you don't want to have a full-on cold by the weekend!

Very nice running conditions again this morning. Frosty and calm with lovely white scenery - it certainly works as an effective wake-up method.:D :D

Well done Hypno - you sound more encouraged by that run than the aborted run at the weekend. Just easing off slightly makes all the difference.:D :D

Simply - another solid run, keep the regularity going and you will improve beyond all recognition in the next few months.

Great running weather today (ecept in the West country apparently) so everyone enjoy your pavement surfing!:D :D

Another good run from you too, rich!

I wouldn't normally run on a Thursday, but would do Friday, then a long run on Sunday, but the weather forecast here is for a better Saturday than Sunday, so I would like to try my long run Saturday instead.....

So, that means tonight I will go for a gentle jog, and then have tomorrow evening off instead, and hopefully get the longer run done, successfully this time, on Saturday.....

The weather right now is perfect for running - if only I didn't have to work

  • :o Morning everyone :D

It still amazes me, the distances you guys cover for just a daily run!!! You lot really are an inspiration :T :T :T

Time for another update for me, went the gym last night and was chuffed to pieces that the entire time i was on the treadmill my heart rate never went above 140!!! :j Which i know is probably still high for just walking at 5km/hr but two weeks ago it was 160-170, so it looks as though my body is adjusting, less sweaty, less out of puff etc.

Also my cross training is getting better managed to keep my speed above 8km/hr for the whole ten minutes, and my HR hovered around 155-160, bang on target for a cardic workout according to the machine :j

Oh and i saw my GP about the weird thing in my leg and she think's it's nothing to worry about, she said the muscle is tight but thats probably from doing so much exercise after 20 years of sitting on my backside, she recommended swapping from showers to baths to give the muscles a good soak, and trying to get more sleep (i usually only manage 6 hours). If it's still there next week she said i should start rubbing deep heat or ibuprofen gel into the muscle, just to loosen it up a bit. But strangely last night i didn't really get the weird feeling at all lol. typical or what!

And i'm officially in love with the scales at the gym, they told me i'd lost another 3 pounds since Monday lol!!! :p

WOW Pink go you - that is amazing progress...good news about the leg thing too.

Bet your docs was chuffed with all the exercise you're doing - mine looks at me like I'm a mad woman everytime I go now (which to be fair isnt very often ;))

The HR thing is really good news because it shows how quickly your body is adapting to the walking :D

That is great improvement, pink, and great news on the leg! Before you know it, you will be doing 10 miles too......this time last year, most of us couldn't run for a bus!

  • Morning all,
I must get back ot tonight, had last night off as the OH was out till late and with the DD playing up didnt manage to get my running shoes on.
Excellent running everybody, every little bit helps you further on towards your goals.
Found out yesterday that if i can manage to get sub 4 hours for the marathon then i can represent my job at races around the world , so thats a big insentive to get the miles done, getting time off work to do something that im enjoying is a great feeling.

Well done pink, keep it going, when I first started out I found the x trainer to be a great piece of exercise equipment. I cannot stand the treadmill, just does not work for me, I like running outside. But for some reason I can blat along on the x trainer, normally do an hour with fartlek bursts on it. Good way of getting the heart going.

And well done on the weight loss, mine has slowed up a bit to between 1 and 2 pounds per week, but I do think that has a lot to do with my shift work and cramming in a dodgy takeaway during shouts.

So far I've lost 1 stone and 9 pounds, so very happy. Diets? No need when running

Becky where abouts on the Thames do you train? I relocate in a couple of weeks to Staines, so will be doing my running on the towpath towards London, running by the river is a great feeling.
