Hi all reporting in from my run yesterday, I managed to do 4 miles took bluudy ages but hey at least the distance is picking up. Need to get some consistency going as I don't seem to be able to do more than a few days before something else happens!
Not able to run tonight as hubbie going out to TA centre to do his entrance tests, but will go out Thurs - Sun then take a day off Monday.0 -
well thats my 5.20m of hills out the way.. total killer but hope to fit it in evey wednesday and will be a big part of the 10m hill route which hopefully will be fitted it once every two weeks as part of an alternate long run campain.
thats the plan anyway.

Well done Evab an Ukevas on some good running...I hope you managed your 15 Rusty!!
Got a nice 10 in this evening in 1:40 so thats exactly 10 min/miling so I'm happy a bit stiff from yesterdays speed session but nothing too painful
Happy running all!0 -
I had to stop at 12 miles, legs went to jelly and seriously had to stop. Think I pushed too hard during the first half, got to 10 miles and and it then became a hard slogl, up to that point I was very pleased with the way it was going. Oh well, still 12 miles is ok, do a very gentle 3 miler tomorrow.
By the way any good ideas for podcasts to help while a way the run?0 -
12 miles is a long way, Rusty, so plenty benefit to come from that.
Your description of how your legs felt sounds more like a reflection of your weekly mileage rather than having gone out too fast.
The 'going wobbly', giving up the ghost type feeling tends to suggest that your weekly mileage has been under about 30 mpw over the last few weeks...and therefore you are hitting resistance once you get in the region of 3 x your average daily mileage.
You will still build your capacity to do longer distance by simply doing runs like tonight, but to do long runs feeling comfortable and feeling strong, higher weekly mileage will push back the boundaries.

10.5 miles today - nice and slow.....My student came with me today for the first 5 miles and they were def over 11 mins per mile, which is probably what I needed! She stopped after two laps of the town, and I carried on for another 2 laps, a little quicker, but not much.
The weather was perfect - no wind, no rain.....a bit chilly but fine once I got going.
All in all, a nice run - I think the final time was about 1:53....not too sure because I forgot to press "stop" when I got back!!!
Great running from people today :TSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Cheers Rich, that makes sense, I know I need to increase my runs now, with shift work thats been a bit tricky of late but will work on it.
I'm very pleased with how things are going, I remember running 1.5 miles was an awful chore......0 -
Rusty - I am in awe, I'll be happy when I can run 10 miles!!!! :rotfl:
I had a rest day on Tuesday as I woke up with a sore throat, aching muscles, etc. Felt a bit better yesterday so went for a steady 5k at a Simplysnail pace - a nice plod that took me 34 minutes
Am feeling fine today so will venture out again after work tonight, let's hope it stops snowing soon so the pavements are clear!!
Good luck to all those heading out today.
