  • Hehe Well I would look for someone to run with...but nobody seems to want to do 95 miles per week with most of it at 6am! I can't think why!:p :p

Nice to hear you've put it into perspective, Hypno....nothing is really wrong except that you probably felt TOO good early on and therefore ended up in a faster pace without realising it..that's all!

Haley - Hypno is right. Pretty much all clubs will insist that you run with them as a guest before deciding whether you want to join, so you might as well see if you like it! Although I don't think they have doggy membership!:p :p

  • oh and probably because 6am is such an awful time, 6pm maybe!

  • I would have agreed with you 3 months ago, but not now! (Blame Becky!:p )

6am is a great time to run - fresh air, traffic free, pedestrian free, no downsides really!:D :D

Hi all sounds like everyone's been busy well done even if things haven't gone to plan - that happens to everyone, so hugs where needed xx

Another rubbish week for me, baby was ill all week and then I've been feeling grotty for a couple of days. But feeling OK this evening so will pop out in the morning. Not sure how far I'll see how I feel.

Sorry things have been grotty, eva.....I take it the back is holding up nicely though? Good luck with your run tomorrow and don't forget to report back!

  • Can I join? I'm new to running and very unfit. I'm going to follow a 5k training schedule in a magazine. Any tips for a newbie.

    Hello Rachel,

My advice for newbies is walking - a 4-6 week program of walking before attempting any running ensures your body is prepared for the impact and fitness needed to run, it helps build bone density and burns more fat that running. Walk at a brisk pace so you are out of breath and keep going until you can walk 4-6 miles continuously then progress to running as much of that distance as you can, but once you stop walk the rest of the way until you can run 4 miles :D

Thanks Becky. I have no car so I can walk up to 3 miles at normal speed but at over 15 stone there is no way I could run for a bus. I'll take on your advice and start brisk walking.
I've just entered my local 5k Race 4 Life which is taking place on the 1st Saturday in June. I would like to run it but I can walk and run if I'm not fit enough.
