Raphael - head over to the runnersworld.co.uk site - they have a list of all the events, long and short, in your area in the next few months and it is probably the best place to start looking! Let us know what you go for!

Thanks :) I've had a look and all that I can see is a half marathon  I want something inbetween to build me up! :p

Went to gym on Wed and then had an hour of footie training. Yesterday I did a short (but very hilly) 2.73m.

    I really want a garmin :(

  • Morning, endorphin junkies!!:D :D

It's March tomorrow, the month before marathon day for a lot of us, the point when the training generally becomes more focussed and everything becomes more real!!

Not long before that euphoric feeling of finishing on The Mall :D (or Blackpool prom for some of us! ).

Back to today and it's another parkrun 5K race. Good luck to Becky on attempting to break 24 minutes in Wimbledon.

Good luck with all the weekend runs and, above all, enjoy......:D :D

Good luck everyone - I'm planning my long run this morning as I have a bit more time than I will have tomorrow.....I have a target milage in mind of 16, but I will just set off and see how I go. If I do less, then fine, if I do my 16, then wooooo!

good luck everyone - whatever your target.

Just the usual "new shoe" niggles that most people would get, while they settle in, but no problems at all in the areas that I had problems before, so I am confident that they will be fine :D

It is the mental pain that I will be trying to address today - if I can do 16 ish, I will feel that I am well on target - it is just that 16 miles seems an awful long way when you talk about it or type it out :o I HAVE done 14, though, so really, I know I can do this....

  • The key is to mentally break the distances down - so with 16 you may think of it as a 5 mile warm up, a 5 mile steady run and a 10K 'run as you feel'. Or it may break down in a different way if, like me, you are using a 6 mile loop - then its a 6 mile warm up, a 6 mile steady run and a 4 mile 'run as you feel'.

    Don't even think about 16....that's a big number!

that's true - I am doing several laps of a 2.75 mile loop - I usually do 3 or 4 of those loops on a Wednesday evening, and I need to just do an extra 2 loops today to make it 6........if one is my warm up, one my cool down, and the bit in the middle is my normal Wednesday run, then it doesn't sound so bad!

  • Indeed, I think you've sussed it!!:D :D

    Sounds like a doddle now!;)

Anyway, just setting off for the race, so good luck and I look forward to seeing news of a successfully completed repeat of the Wednesday evening run (oh, with a bit of a warm up and down thrown in!:p ).

A solid run this morning which just delivered a new PB, 19:34 compared to a previous best of 19:37.

I might have hoped for a little quicker today but I'm not going to complain at ticking off the fastest intervals and the fastest 5K during a 95 mile week.:D :D

Straight back out for a gentle 10K now to maximise the rest before tomorrow's 20!
