    Rachel,

By 1st June you should be up to running 3.1 miles as long as you take it very slowly to start with :D

Good luck and keep us updated with yours progress :D

I'm waiting for my dinner to go down then I'm out for a 20 miler at about six...very quiet today - I assume Rich is out running, where is everyone else??

I'm here, but pretty much wiped out - which would explain my lack of ability to run as far as I wanted to yesterday. I've not done a great deal of anything today.......

Hope your 20 miler goes well tonight!

Sorry to hear your feeling tired Hypno - a day off should help you recuperate and rest...I could do with that after a 2am night last night ;)

I did see your post timed at silly o'clock and wondered what had happened to the 8 hours sleep! I went out for a lovely dinner with my friend, (she cooked a Jamie Oliver prawn thing - must find the recipe it was yum!) but was still home and asleep by 10.30!! I am getting old :o

Boy, I can't tell you how good that run felt - it was grreeeeaaattttt!:D :D

Despite a few beers last night, and 75 miles already run this week, there was a really nice flow to the run. The fact that there was bright sunshine for most of the run just added to the enjoyment.:D

I was most interested to see what sort of strength there was at the end - and a 7:20 last mile on a pulse of 92 answered that one very nicely!:D

So 20 miles run at approx 3:23 marathon pace to complete a 95 mile week - I am one happy bunny!:D :D:D

Rachel - I was 15 stone and obese less than 6 months ago and couldn't contemplate running until I'd got a base of walking under the belt, so you'll be fine but you must take it slowly!. Good luck.

Becky Good luck with your 20 miles - I hope you get as much enjoyment as I just did.:D

Hypno - You'll be full of energy again soon enough. And you can't use age as an excuse considering that you're a mere youngster!:p :p

    Excellent running once again, rich!

I am glad I took today off - although I did put my run kit on first thing, thinking I might just go round the block, before DS was ill and so couldn't do his paper-round, and I ended up driving DD round both hers, and his rounds, to get them done in time. By the time I got back, I was already of the mindset that a sofa-day might be in order.....! (although I still have my joggers on!).

And I have found it very difficult to stay awake today - not feeling ill, just tired. I am looking forward to getting out again tomorrow evening when the children are at karate though, but won't be doing so many of the 7-8 mile runs this week - will probably do more 6's to try and save my energy for a longer attempt at the weekend again!

    I'll get there!

  • Wow Rich, I can't believe the miles that you are putting in - that is some running.

Hypno - hope you're not sickening for anything and are feeling better tomorrow.

After my enforced two days of rest I achieved my first 'outdoor' 10k today in 64 minutes and am extremely pleased with that. Especially as my original goal was to run 10k at the end of March. :j :j

I need to have a think now about how I am going to progress - more miles or more runs??? Having just caught up on the thread I am thinking more runs - what do the experts think?????

Hi there gang, I'm finally back from a gruelling race up at Haweswater in the Eden valley. What a beautiful location for a half-marathon. It was super-busy. We arrived 1 1/2 hours before the start of the race and the car park field was already filling up. I found it really tough but finished below the magic 2-hour barrier in 1:58.55. I don't know what was wrong today, but both OH and myself both really struggled and when we compared notes after we finished we both felt like we could have feigned a pulled muscle at 3 miles and walked back to the start. Anyway, we both soldiered on and finished. It is quite a hilly route, with a mega-climb of around a mile between 5-6 miles, then again on the return route at 7-8 miles. That was a real leg-sapper. I had a much better second half though, and even overtook some runners! :p

I would really recommend this race, despite finding it tough. It is an amazing location, very well-organised and very friendly. The memento is - yes, you guessed it - another mug, although this time you take it to Wilf's where it is filled with piping hot tea or coffee - just what you need at the end of a race. :D

All told, still a good session and one that I'm sure will help to build more strength.

Great running this week from the guru of running, our very own Rich ;) and some great action shots of you too Becky :D . You look much more composed than I do when I'm running.

Well done simply! Well ahead of target there!

Chick - under two hours! Fab!! And it sounds a wonderful location! Overtaking runners at the end is always satisfying, isn't it!
