4 minutes over 13 miles off your best is only just over 3% - not bad for an 'off' day!:D
What time did he do today btw, and what is he hoping for in Prague?
He did 1:42.03 today and he got round OK albeit 15 minutes slower than he has run this race in the past. As far as Prague goes, and I quote "I just want to get round in one piece, enjoy the race and have a great weekend with my wonderful fiancee." .......OK, I might have elaborated on his response a little, but the gist is the same

Not too bad at all considering the build up - was there ever an explanation to the injury or has it just sorted itself out?
And even if they weren't his exact words, I'm sure that's what he really meant!;)Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

No explanation. It isn't completely gone, but it isn't painful any more. It is just very stiff now compared to his other calf muscle. He can't stretch it out very far. It just faded away as mysteriously as it came, although he has changed to new running shoes. Maybe it was as simple as that!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Went out for a 15 mile or so run today and erm got carried away and ran further down the coast than intended so ended up doing just under 20 miles in the end in 3:36. The extra 5 miles was daft as i only took one bottle of drink and i'd stuck it in the hedgerow to retrieve on the way back so did a 10 mile stint without any drink.
I've ran Haweswater before a couple of years ago on a wet and windy day. Quiet a nice run with a nice drop downhill to the turnaround point then its back up the blooming hill. When i did it i had a tailwind and literally flew up the hill. Last few miles i picked off several runners too.Debt free Nerd number 1122 LBM Jan 2009 Debt @ LBM £40,086.88 (14/01/09)

Well done on the 20 miles KMS.
I was thinking that that is all we mere marathon runners go to in training, but what distances do you go to when preparing for a 24 hour race? And what sort of distance would you actually cover during the race?
Good luck in Cyprus.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Evening All
Well done Rich - I'm so proud of your achievements over the last few months - its an inspiration to the rest of us
Wow Chick - now you are faster than me and on an off day too - no fair (but really really well done)
Oooo I ran 15 miles (new trainers giving me blister and I had flashes of Hypno style issues so stopped at that point) in 2:32 - whoop whoop - not even trying the legs were on it today - so even though I didnt break 60 this week I still ran 56 miles (my highest so far) and ran my quickest 15 miles on the back on a very tough half last weekend...off to bathe my blisters in the shower...
Happy running all!0 -
Now that should be a boost to your confidence levels - great run!!:D
A solid 15 miles at the end of a 56 mile week is all new territory - so your body is going to get plenty adaptation from the week as a whole.
I'm sensing you felt pretty good at the end except the blisters? If so, you're going to go into your next long run feeling pretty confident.
Well done - you're doing so well!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Rich - erm no idea
the 12 hour one is first so will be worked in and classed as just another marathon training run just ever so slightly longer than normal. I'd like to do 50 iles in that one minimum but should be going further if i want to do Comrades at some point which is 55 miles or so in 12 hours and not flat. 12 min miling gets me to 60 miles. 24 hour races erm i'll worry about the training for that in june after Edinburgh. Should be warm enough to get some late night runs in when tired which should help. Will probably cheat though and run for 20 miles or so then go for a bike ride.

KMS - That is mind boggling. It's basically fitting typical weekly mileage into one run.
Very efficient in terms of time management, but mind boggling in terms of mental endurance.
Good luck anyway, you don't sound too phased by the prospect.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
