Good, I'm glad you're not too upset about it. You are right, life affects your running whether you think it is doing or not. Still, you seem very pragmatic about it all so that's good. Take it easy on the ankle over the next few days to make sure it is still ok - you don't want to risk a major injury so close to FLM-day.

The organisers are really naughty for advertising it as a 'fast, flat half' aren't they? I'm always suspicious when the information says 'undulating' :p , but to call it flat when there are significant hills is well out of order. Don't let it put you off. I know you can just bounce right back from it and come back wiser and stronger.

  • Thanks Chick and Sally!:D

Extremely well done on the 16 miler, Sal! What sort of 'time on your feet' did you get from that run? (Hope it was nice and steady;)).

KMS - A 10 mile PB despite all the obstacles to overcome, you must be pleased enough with that!

Evanesco - I agree with Chckadee, your plan sounds absolutely fine so good luck with that. Consistent effort rather than hard effort is what gets results!

Ukevas - That 10 mile has come quickly after the injury lay up. I take it you're feeling nice and strong and fully intact again now then?

as much as one can do after doing the first 10m+ in like 11 years :D .

But yeah felt strong my 6.8 check point was 3 mins up on rest of the weeks easy runs and loads in the tank for the last 3.29m lap.

So yeah i think 1/2 is easy within site. would just be aiming for sub two hour for my first blast.

That's a good point. For the goody bag connoisseurs it consisted off:

    1. T-shirt
    2. Space Blanket
    3. Banana
    4. Flap- jacky thingy, which was actually quite yummy.
    5. A miniscule sachet of muesli!

plus a ple of flyers for various things. The actual bag was a reusable bag rather than a plastic bag - they must feel ever so green!:D

3 hours and a min I think (must check) Rich, I could have gone faster but a) wanted to get some good time on the feet and b) thought as this was a new distance and not sure if I would make it, better to burn some fat off first rather than glycogen. Had some lovely apple crumble and custard for lunch...yum!

Its even more impressive then if the first in 11 years.

You were roughly on target for 2 hours for a half today anyway, but factoring in race conditions and a bit more training you should be able to dip under 2 hours reasonably comfortably I would imagine.

  • It is shocking isn't it?

Becky wouldn't post until I'd mentioned the hills, because she thought that you might think she was talking about southern hills, ie speed bumps, but they were actually REAL hills!:p
