Venture wont let us have our photos taken as once they learn my DH doesnt want to be in photos they say that it is for families only, sorry!! Wouldn't pay their prices anyway as how can they justify something that has been put on a digital camera and then printed off!!! Ridiculous. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0

I find that odd. I had a friend who, until recently, worked for Venture for over 5yrs. She did all sorts of combinations of photos including those of pets and objects special to the people being photographed, so I cannot see Venture refusing to take photo's because your husband will not be in them.
And yes - their prices are astronomical (as my friend wholeheartedly agreed) - but there is a lot more work done on the photo's after they have been taken and before the customer sees them on their viewing. It is not just a case of taking a photo and printing it.0 -

It's the photography equivalent of buying a PC from Dixons (mainstream and expensive)0 -
I had a horrible experience with venture a few years back. we had the voucher for a free sitting and 1 free 7x5, which was all i wanted.
I went to view without dh, which was a mistake, as the salesperson had a trainee with him and it was the hardest sell I had ever experienced.
I kept repeating that we couldnt afford others and just wanted the free print but the man was horrible and just wouldn't stop hounding me.
In the end I pointed out that I had no money with me and none to spend anyway and he pointed out a nearby cashpoint for me!
I left the shop heading for the cashpoint then came to my senses and never returned, not even for my free print! It was a horrible experience, never again!0 -
Update on the cd offer, I received my pics and have printed some off myself, there seems to be no restriction. So if you have used Venture i feel this is much better offer than anything else they do.Leopardlady

Oh yes, I completely agree - as did my friend which is one of the reasons she no longer works for them - and the pressure on the photographer to make sales was unreal. The branch she worked at wanted them to get a minimum of £1200 per customer in orders  The comment was in response to the poster previously who said that it was just a case of taking a photo and printing it when it is far more involved than that.
I know that there are a few Venture studios that have closed recently and I suspect that a lot more will do in the year ahead.0 -
they have made a lot of their head office staff in Winsford redundant as well.....I worked there a few years ago and got some freebies but they are overpriced. It doesnt cost much to put them together0

I have just got back from my local Venture studio. I felt no pressure what so ever. I came away from my shoot with my daughter yesterday, having felt like we'd had a lovely time. We played with balloons, read books and laughed together. I had my viewing this afternoon and decided that with 47 pictures that I liked equally my best choice would be to buy the pen drive. They took 100 pounds off, which left me with 500 to pay. All of the pictures will be touched up as needed. I feel like I haven't paid over the odds. I paid £15 for the "experience" and was at the shoot for almost 1hr 20min and back again today for another half hour. I am sure that at least a couple of hours more work will be required to be spend on the pictures. So all in all it isn't too much over the odds. Yes, maybe I could have got it cheaper, but would the photos be as good as what i've just seen today? I guess i'll never know. x0

minimoneysaver - we had our session on Saturday and go back for the viewing on Thursday. I know that the shots are going to be fabulous but can't really afford to pay more than £500. The USB is on the price list we were given but I'm sure that it'll have copyright on it so we can't print off from it. Do you know if that's the case with the one you are buying?
Thanks.0 -
Do haggle with them as well
We walked away from our viewing because we genuinely couldn't decide what to go for. I was passing by about a week later and they had one of their 'offers' on a group of photos. I managed to negotiate another 20% off just by asking. Still cost a fortune, mind but ours have pride of place and they are better than anything else I've seen - we have lovely big shots of our kids taken by a very keen photographer in the family and they are beautiful and cost virtually nothing too; but the venture shots are something else entirely.
The USB drive sounds like a good idea if you can print off from it easily. We had ours done in the summer but I don't remember that option otherwise I'd have taken it.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
