It's a great little machine ....
PROS: Nice design, usable keboard (although not for intensive use), nice clear screen, huge HDD, fast (under Linux), good selection of Linux apps installed, 3 USB's, memory card slot that supports SD (inc HDSD), XD, memory stick. Great price, £150, compared to many other places selling for significantly more !
Disadvantage: Battery life is approx 3hrs (some other makes are longer), the mouse/touchpad buttons are on the left/right of pad (and not the base) - annoying/fiddly to use.
My OH is very happy with Linux on hers. On mine - i'm attempting an XP install now, if it fails or runs too slow, i'll revert it back to Linux .... also intending to increase the memory - but only because Windows will need it.
I would rush and get one ASAP .... before they all sell out !!0 -

You may all find the Aspire One User website useful, it has a lot of how-to's and drivers for Windows available to download.
N.B I don't have any affiliation with that site, other than as a user of it with my own Aspire One.0 -
Il have a look for reviews, have set my heart on the Samsung NC10 netbook but this is half the price so I need to read up on it.
Mainly after web browsing/forums on the move, had read reviews and Samsung seems the best but miles more expensive:rolleyes:Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.
Sealed pot challenge number 9 number 4820 -
i know exactly what you mean about the samsung, i bought the acer out of curiosity really, unless you need to have XP or 5 hours battery life just get acer. in a few months new features will be out and i think you will feel that there was no point spending so much on the samsung.0

took mine back today as it had a 120gb hard drive - did a swap and the replacement is a 160gb drive
so now very happy.
Just be aware that not all Asda units are 160gb and all boxes are marked 120gb anyway!! Luck of the draw and all that.....0 -
Has anyone managed to get PC World to 110% price match?
If so, what did you use to prove the Asda price is £150?
I suppose it then comes down to whether you pay £145 @ pc world for a (definite?) 120gb version, or £150 for the chance of a 160gb version.0 -

Yes I went into PC world but they only have the 120gb version listed - so I kept with Asda and got the 160gb.0
